Toxoplasmosis is only if the cat goes outdoors, not indoor only cats. Get your MD to write something down so they will stop bothering you. I know how i feel, i love my kitties i have 2 and they are my babies. I would never let them go outside. One time my poor baby jumped out the window and where she fell was were i found her. She was crying so loud it wolk the neighbors.
Congrats on the baby, sounds like your moving along nicely.
Tell your hubby that if the inlaws dont get off your back you will be sucidal after delivery. Everyone should compromise with the expectant mommy...shes ALWAYS right!!! LOL.
i swear your inlaws are waaaaaaaay too involved in your lives. leave the cat indoors. keep the mil out during del and you will be just fine

You must be soooo excited about your upcoming birth - are you having a boy or a girl? I have been reading your posts over the last few months and am really happy things are turning out so well for you (no premature baby afterall!). Stand your ground with the cats - dont let inlaws push you around.

The reason for not cleaning out a cats litter box when pregnant is because cats "sometimes" have a protozoa living in their faeces that causes toxoplasmosis. This can be passed on to the baby and can cause a variety of problems. My mother has toxoplasmosis as my grandmother was exposed to it while she was pregnant - my grandmother has never had any symptoms of it but my mother has had major problems as a result (luckily she didnt have an outbreak when pregant with me so I didnt get it).
Congrats!! At least your dilated...Ill be 39 weeks tomorrow and nothing exciting is happening yet. Dont stress out over the cats. I dont see what the inlaws big deal is over the cats. I have two crazy dogs and they are staying in the house, ones 25lbs and the other is 60lbs (and thinks hes a puppy). At least cats are much smaller. I dont know if this works with cats or not but Ive heard that your hubby should bring a blanket (or something else of baby's) home and let the dogs smell it so they get use to the sent of the baby. I dont see why it wouldnt work for cats because when we got my kitten we rubbed her on the dogs...so they could get use to each other and now they love each other.
definitely an old wives' tale. we had an indoor cat while our daughter was a baby. even found them both asleep in the crib a few times :) no problems at all. if they're indoor cats, they need to stay indoors. did you ever ask your doctor so that you could your in-laws a good answer from the MD?
Aren't you excited!!! We had cats with all three of my pregnancies.. NO problems.. I was just told never to clean litter boxes out when pregnant.. Can't remember why but something to do with cats and germs.. But nobody said anything about new babies..Oh there is a wives tail that cats will try to suck milk from a newborns mouth but with all the people i've know with cats and kids it's never happened yet! Good luck and bless you!
If your tired it's b/c your body has & is going threw ALOT.Just take it one dau at a time.Remember rest, rest, rest as much as you can b/f baby arrives.Congrats keep us posted...nanis
Goodluck and I wish you a happy and safe childbirth!!! I know how you feel about the cats. I have two cats right now and they are also indoor cats...they're my babies!!! I couldn't imagine puting them outside! When our baby is born...we don't plan on puting them out...of course we'll keep them out of baby's room....but don't worry...things will all work out fine! Best of luck
