tear in skin near clitotis after childbirth

After childbirth, I noticed a tear in the skin near my clitoris. It feels uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, how was it resolved? Can this area be stiched up? I am very worried it will cause problems in the future and sex will become painful. I have an appointment with my OB next week to take a look at it. I appreciate anyones thoughts about this!

HI CHELSEA DID THIS HAPPEN DURING LABOR,WHILE PUSHING?THAT IS NATURAL,BUT THE DOCTOR WOULD HAVE NOTICED AND STITCHED IT UP THEN.OR DID THIS HAPPEN WHEN YOU CAME HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL?IF IT DID YOU SHOULD OF BEEN SEEN THEN NOT HAVE WAITED.WAITING A LONG PERIOD OF TIME,TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT WITH NO TREATMENT OF ANY KIND,IT WILL BE HARD TO STITCH NOW.YOUR DOCTOR WILL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO FOR IT.UNTIL THEN KEEP IT CLEAN AND DRY AS POSSIBLE,DO NOT PUT NO KINDS OF OINTMENTS ON IT UNTIL YOU ARE SEEN BY YOUR DOCTOR.TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF.TNT406

I assume the tear happened while pushing, although I didn't feel any pain until about a week later. When I examined the area I noticed a slit near the clitoris. Since this is such a sensitive area I'm getting scared. Maybe I am over reacting and should calm down until the doctor takes a look at it. Of course it wasn't easy to get an appointment... They wanted me to wait over two weeks!
