vaginal smell

my wife has a very strong odor in her vaginal area, this is very strong after sex, what can be done to take this away.

You should also be treated, or there is the possibility you will pass the bacteria right back to her after the course of antibiotics is over.  You should take antibiotics for the same two weeks as she does.

It sounds like bacterial vaginosis, a very common infection and it does smell worse after sex. She needs to see the doctor and get the right treatment, you can't get anything over the counter for this.
