vivelle dot

Just wondering if anyone has ever had any side effects of the viville dot. I have a lot of problems since I had a hysterectomy in Oct...Been to lots of Doctors and they can't seem to find out what is wrong with me. All the test I have had done have come back ok. MRI,MRA, blood tests. I since have developed a thyroid problem and taking meds for that. So now I am just wondering if I am having a reaction to the vivelle dot. I have posted before on the hysterectomy surgery and won't go into that again. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem...Don't know what else to do. Thanks...

I've been on Vivelle-dot for maybe 10 yrs now.  I lost track of the surgeries I had.   I am now 53 yrs old.  I haven't had any problems or side affectsf rom the patch.  I just know I'm glad I have it.  I had my uterus removed 19 yrs ago then finally had to have my ovaries and my fallopian tubes removed 10 yrs ago or so.  That is when my MD put me on the patch.  Which I requested because I had heard about.  Later I was diagnosed with a Thyroid disease (Hashimoto's).  This caused me to have my weight gain which wasn't much and is controlled with exercise and eating right.  If I stop exercising and still eat right I can gain up to 10-20 lbs, easy.  But again it isn't from the vivelle-dot.  I feel safe having the patch.  If I can handle it with my asthma med's and thyroid med's - I think you'd be okay.  Then again, every body is different.

After TAH I was put on Vivelle.  The side effects were many.  Everything from sore breasts, 20 lb weight gain, dark spots on skin, higher blood pressure and swollen hands.  After 3 years I took myself off of it.  Everything went back to normal, except for hot flashes.  I now use natural progesterone and put up with the hot flashes. I do weight lifting and treadmill for bone density.  There is no perfect answer.  Some people just can't tolerate HRT.  Good luck.  from dollwoman
