Glad to hear your feeling better, my fiance who is a supervisor with Motorola and is a workaholic, called in today and is in bed with a bad cold or flu symptoms.
I was feeling alittle funky. But I'm back now. Well the first thing I cooked was scrambled eggs. I was about 6 or 7. I was sick alot when I was small so I was with my grandmother. She showed me a few times. One day she was sick so I had to take care of her so I made eggs and tea. I did have a easy bake oven...boy the memories. My older brother loved those cakes. My mom made us stop because my brother decided to put a egg in there. We were in trouble and banned from the easy bake oven. He broke it. I so mad. I always loved to cook and surprisingly I never had home economics. I can't remember why?? Thanks for the laughs ladies. It really made my day.......((((HUGS)))
GEE
LOL...my class was Home Economics not homemaking...forgive me, it's been a while and I too had an "Easy Bake Oven"...as a little girl, I threw a pork chop in it, at it and ended up in the hospital (lol)...remember, the over was light bulb and here I threw a pork chop.....where was my mother :)
Also, the first time I baked a cake, it was chocolate, my favorite, but I put too much mix to the pan and made a mess of the oven...family laughed at me too :)
Ha. don't laugh at me but i've just started cooking and I'm 20. I started when I was what 19. My mom is such an amazing cook and she's basically cooks everything for me, but she's not cooking as much now cuz she wants me to learn to cook.
So far I can do lasagna, homemade macaroni & cheese, Fettuccine Alfredo, cornmeal porridge and potatoe salad but that's it. lol
Although I once made a giant cookie which was burnt on the outside and gooey on the inside. I was young, i thought a giant cookie was better than 18 cookies lol.
I was always helping out with younger brothers and sisters so started ensuring they had breakfast from a very young age (toast and cereal). I do remember loving my Easy-Bake oven and making little cakes for my family. From a young age helped cook supper - lots of hamburg based meals and did a lot of baking. One of the first real recipes I cooked for dinner was homemade mac and cheese - full of butter, onions, cheddar cheese and sour cream topped with peameal bacon. Very fattening!
the first actually edible dish i made was lasagna. i think i was about 6 or 7. mom was making dinner and i wanted to help. so she told me what to do and i did it. it was pretty d@mn good. lol. i still use that receipe to this day. in fact i'm making it next week.
I think the first real thing that I made was a cake with a friend when we were ten. The smoke alarms in our house went off. lol The cake was sooooo good. Now I make cookies and brownies as much as I can. My friends think my brownies are good. yay! :)
In childhood, I helped make "jello"...lol! My aunt was a great cook, but didn't have much patience for teaching. I say I really started cooking about 8 yrs. ago, when I learned to do from scratch :-) I made all sorts of dishes (casseroles), but can't remember the very 1st one, so will settle for "beef stroganoff".
:-)))
We did the hot dog in croissant thing too, and called it Pigs in a Blanket, ROFL and oh, yes, I remember them homemaking classes, ours was called Home Economics. :)
I started cooking early on in life. I remeber back in the days in "homemaking" class (wow, it states my age (lol)... an ovened baked small crossants wrapped cheese hots dog. I was so proud that I cooked them and ate them all up.
As a teenager, I got a recipe of baked spagetti with homemade sauce and melted cheese on top, put it in the oven and when I served it, my first real boyfriend raved....eveyone who ate from it raved...Don't know what ever happened to that recipe, but was never able to duplicate that same recipe again :)
according to my mom the first time i cooked was when i was 3. i decided to make my her breakfast in bed one morning. i made her cereal, eggs, bacon and sausage. (i didn't use the stove. that was a no no). so apparently what i did was got a BIG mixing bowl. put the entire box of cereal in, half a gallon of milk. an entire dozen of eggs, the bacon and sausage. mixed it up and put it into my moms bed with her. she rolled over and got a face full of well....goo. i do remember her being VERY happy about it. she said it was the best breakfast she ever had. i hope i'm that patient when my kids dump goo into my bed.
Oh my, that was a long time ago! My mom had all of us kids (five) cooking at a very young age. We all took turns. I really can't remember what my first dish was, or exactly when, but It seems that I have been cooking, and liking to cook all of my life. Even now I am the one person that cooks all the holiday and special occasion meals for the whole family.
