Higher Tg Levels in latest blood test

It has been more than 4 years since my total thyroidectomy. I had two body scans one year after another and was declared good.

At first, blood tests was done 3 months once for Free T4, Free T3, TSH and Tg. Then it was done 6 months once and now, once a year.

Tg levels has always been from 0.1 to 0.9ug/L. I just got my results back for this year and the result is worrying. It is now 1.9ug/L. Last year, it was 0.6ug/L.

Full results is as follows:

Free T4 = 25.8pmol/L
Free T3 = 5.18pmol/L
TSH = <0.01mIU/L
Tg = 1.9ug/L

Is there any cause for concern or should i just repeat a test after a few months before i start to panic? I had a flu when i went for the test. Could this have affected anything?

I am really worried because my wife is pregnant again. I had this whole episode of thyroid cancer when my wife was pregnant with the first. I really don't want us to go through the whole thing once again. What are the odds?

If there really is an occurrence, what is the next step? There is no pain or lump on my neck, thats for sure!

Really appreciate the help. This forum helped me through a lot during my weakest period. Thanks in advance.

Doctor said that the increase was not too alarming but said that i should do a whole body RAI scan just to be sure. Guess i'll be going hypo and missing out on lotsa food again. If results shows uptake, i'll have to repeat radioiodine.

If i repeat radioiodine, it will have to be done soonest after the scan cos i really don't want to go through being hypo again!

I had a TT for thyroid cancer 15 years ago and all of a sudden in 2007 my Tg levels started increasing. The level had always remained below 0.2 and then it started increasing and each test for a while was a little higher. I had PET scans, ultrasounds, and TMS scans (2 each) done but nothing significant was ever found. My most recent Tg test was in October and it started going back down. I was so nervous about the increase but it seems to be going back down now and I do not know the cause for this happening...stress, infection, or perhaps I was too hypo? It took it a long time to finally start going the other way. I just had a Tg test done again today.
