I've been on the same dose of Synthroid and now the generic, levothyroxine, for about 12 years now. Although I've had to go up to .125 and down to .075, it's been pretty consistant at .1mg. To me, there hasn't been a difference between the two makes of drug. I do have anemia problems due to the hypothyroidism and do get the ringing/buzzing in my left ear. As of right now, I'm thinking I have bigger autoimmune issues than worrying about whether I'm taking generic or name brand thyroid hormone. Best wishes!
You should post to the thyroid community. They know a lot about armour!!
One of my favorite dr. Excuses is when I tell my dr. About my bouts of misery I get and he tells me that a persons tsp does not swing from day to day so it must be something elese....
I didn't have tinnitis on .75 mcg of Levoxyl, but I did have terrible pressure behind my ear drumsand raised blood pressure. It was AWFUL. I've shared w/ you before Bruce and know we have different thoughts about the possible causes behind our Hashimotos - whether its genetic, caused by an environmental trigger, stress the bottom line is we need to be our own health advocates. I do wonder if your endo will allow you to try a low-dose Cytomel (T3) since they don't advocate Armour or some other dessicated thyroid med. Some people do not do well on T4 only meds.
I just think auto-immune thyroid issues are more difficult to treat since the hormone levels swing from day to day, week to week etc. I know you've read lots of books too. The most recent one I purchased ws "Thyroid Power", this one has impressed me a lot.
If I go higher than 025 I'll go hyper.... It's a double edge sword
do you still hear ringing? if not maybe your endo can put you on a higher levo than before. odd ive never heard of feeling hyper on .025 of synthriod. hope the ringing stopped. the ringing i had was on and off and hasnt happened since ive been on synthroid the past year or two.
I think it's because they don't know enough to prescribe it. I have bottle sitting in my closet. If anyone wants it.
Most main stream doctors won't recommend Armour. My doctor says it is because they don't trust that the hormone levels are consistent. I think it is due to their relationships with the drug companies.
I feel hyper since switching. I'm only taking. One half .025
levo is a generic for synthroid and has been proven to not absorb as well as brand name. i felt like crap on levo all the time. try switching to name brand.
