Please Help

Hi, I'm new to this site but would like anyone's feedback on what I'm about to post. For the last 6 or 7 months I've been experiencing the following symptoms: it all started with what I would like to call a massive panic attack back in December of 09. It truly fealt like I was going to die. After that I started my journey of doctors and tests. I got a brain MRI (negative) I got an echocardiogram (normal) I got another test on my head for possible stroke (can't think of the name - negative) and so from there on my neuro-doctor just told me it was migraines but I just can't believe that when I tell you all of the symptoms I've had. The most prominent sensation I get of all is a rocking/whirly type sensation that is most noticeable in the evenings when I try and lie down to relax. Also, another major symptom is I have great imbalance when I walk; it almost feels like I'm sinking into the ground or the sensation that I may fall backwards as I walk. I do get headaches from time to time but nothing not manageable from sleeping it off. However sometimes when trying to sleep i get this sensation like driving in a car fast over a big hill or a drop from riding in a roller coaster and it will instantly end as soon as I open my eyes. I definitely think I get anxiety symptoms as well. If anyone has anything that sounds similar to this please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Any dizziness that can be felt with eye closed is usually caused by ear problems like Meniere’s disease, wax or fluid in ear or any other pressure changes problems. Please consult an ENT for complete evaluation.
Hope this helps. Take care!

Thank you both...that has been a struggle for me in that I have been going to the same neurologist for the last 6 months and he keeps just wanting to do more and more tests. I have an appointment with him in 2 weeks and am going to suggest these things and ask him for a reference to an ENT. Thanks again for your advice!

And get a different doctor to look into it. "Insanity is asking the same doctor over and over and expecting a different result."

You need to have a CT scan to check for chronic sinusitis or see an ENT to be checked for Meneires syndrome. Meneires syndrome is a syndrome that basically keeps your equilibrium off balance due to sinusitis, allergies and even fluid in your ears.  If you are diagnosed with this, more than likely your doctor will prescribe Anti-vert/Meclizine for the dizziness and sometimes they even prescribe fluid pills for the fluid in your ears and sinues.  Meclizine can be bought over the counter but also can be prescribed.  I have Meneires syndrome.  Once you get on the right medication, it is easily managed.  You do not have to take the medication every day, unless your doctor tells you.  Usually you only take it when your symptoms appear.  I would recommend asking your doctor about this, asking for a CT of the sinuses, or asking to be referred to an ENT doctor.  Good luck.
