metavir index score

Can anyone tell me what portal inflammation score of 3/4, piecemeal necosis of 2/4,  lobular inflamation of 3/4 & fibrosis of 2/4 means?  When I looked it up it just has a scoring of 1,2,3, & 4 .....not in 1/4 increments & does that mean it is like a gas tank that takes forever to go down after fill up, but goes down quickly after certain point?

This discussion is related to new hep-c drug SOON!!!!.

I believe the metavir score rates the inflammation from A0 to A3 and the the important stat of fibrosis F0 to F4.  I agree with Bill1954 as to where you stand and the advice he gave you.  The important number is the stage of fibrosis (scarring).  How fast a person moves from stage to stage depends on a lot of factors.  Your lifestyle, and diet will play an important role from here on out.  Good luck and live healthy lifestyle.

I’d interpret that as stage F2 (scarring) with significant inflammation. It’s pretty much a guess as to how it might continue to progress, unfortunately. For right now you have a bit of breathing room, from what I can tell. Be sure to discuss these results with your doctor and get their onions and advice. Best of luck,

Bill
