Thank you in advance for any light you can shed. I have been blessed with excellent health my whole life. This was reinforced by a recent physical, where all but two tests showed no cause for concern. I am grateful that this has raised my awareness, and going forward, I will be a virtual poster child for kidney health.
My UACR was less than 5 ug/mg (well below the established 30 ug/mg limit), my BUN-to-creatinine ratio is 14 (well within the acceptable range of 10:1 to 20:1). However, the BUN and Creatinine were both within limits, but towards the high end (17 mg/dl and 1.2 mg/dl, respectively). I have read that high BUN and Creatinine may be due to factors such as dehydration and intense exercise, which could explain my numbers.
If the UACR is well below the limit of 30 ug/mg, all other blood test results are normal, and the person is otherwise in excellent health, what might elevated (but within range) BUN and creatinine levels indicate? To what extent does the very positive UACR result override any cause for concern from the BUN and Creatinine results? What action can the person take to improve the numbers?
Again, thank you, Sven
