Textural change of uncertain significance

Hello,
I am 40 years old. I have two lumps that are believed to be lymph nodes. 10 years ago I had a fna of a "node" that turned out to be of no concern. Two years ago, I was asked to do repeat ultrasounds in 6 months. Then in Dec, I was told to do biopsy or 3 month recheck. I opted to wait 3 months. In April I did my follow up ultraound. The report says there is little change in the size of the masses and are believed to be nodes, but that there is a change in texture that is of uncertain significance. Report recommends biopsy or short term follow up.
I am scheduled for a biopsy next week. I have a couple of concerns. One is, do you think the biopsy will be of the area of uncertain significance? or will the biopsy be of the masses (nodes)? If the biopsy of the nodes turns out to be of no concern, will I still have to continue to monitor this so often? It is becoming more and more stressful just following up so often. Is there a chance they may just want to excise them?
Remaining positive that it is not cancer, but am worried about constantly worrying and following up. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Thank you for your quick response. I appreciate your words; I will remain postive.
Another question, will I be able to get the pathology results at the same time that I am having the US FNB? Or do you predict that I will have to wait a few days?
Again, thank you so very much.

Hi there.

I understand your concern.  You can ask or clarify with the doctor who will perform the biopsy if he can sample both areas (the nodes and the areas with the change in texture).  If both would turn out negative, then continued surveillance is recommended.  However, it is also an option to have these nodes removed though you should discuss this very well with your surgeon to understand the risks and benefits.  Excision does not absolve you in continuing surveillance, but this may just lessen the frequency of the screening tests.  I hope your biopsies will turn out OK and will be with less pain and discomfort as possible.  Regards and God bless.
