Getting off sleeping pills and alcohol for good

I need a pint of vodka and a half a bottle of NyQuil to get to sleep. The problem is I can't scale it back by consuming

25% less for a week then reducing the amount by another 25% and so on, because any amount less that the full

amount (pint of vodka and half bottle NyQuil) and I will be wide awake all night.

Any advice will be helpful.

You say you were a mean drunk, hubby got a restraining order on you, you have alot of charges and are in mental health court and yet you still continue to drink here and there......Maybe it is time to start listening to some of the people who have some sober time in.

what is harsh to say?that if upallnight continues this there may be a not waking up again?that is a reality of mixing substances that can stop the heart.i've been sober/clean 30 years and it almost happened to me.I'm lucky to be here!sleeping pills and alcohol can kill one...not a good combo!

That is a bit harsh to say. if u can't get off it on ur own go to a detox place. Cuz withdrawal from alcohol can kill u so b careful

It's ganna cause u anxiety. tell u that I'm an alcoholic. so when I had to quit was pretty brutal. So. Hell I still don't sleep lol maybe go to doc n get actually sleeping pills. cuz it's hard

Looks like you might have to not sleep for a while. It's okay, many of us have done it. Try posting in the addiction / substance abuse forum.  There maybe others who have dealt directly with this same combination.
