I think Palin did a lot better than her Couric interview and Joe behaved and didn't get carried away.
But when Biden  got choaked up talking about his son, it brought a tear to my eye.!
I still really like Joe Biden.

Biden looked a little off his game...this had to be tough for him, but they did debate without him spitting and drooling......oh, i have to disagree on the tears he was trying to shed.......Its a sign of weakness especially in a male candidate to break down ...during a debate........strategy?......sympathy call.....I dunno.  I would hate to be that me to say thats what I thought.......just makes me wonder.......awesome job.  They really tried to engage each other unlike grumpy gramps and boy wonder Obama........lets hope they learn a lesson from these two tonight and come out more impressive next Tuesday. !!

It was a definate wink.   Would love to hear the comments if Biden came out winking at the camera.   I'm sorry she embarrasses me as a woman, and since she didn't answer the majority of the questions tonight, I still don't see anything that indicates her ability for  leadership of our country.

The folksy  6 pack   soccer mom talk   does not impress me, in fact just the opposite.....it scares the &^%$ out of me.  Bush was the man anyone could have a beer with,  and I think Palin's competence would allow her to continue in his footsteps.  Not a path I care to stay on.

Of course this is just my opinion.

I agree that she just didn't answer the questions- instead she answered with pre-rehearsed talking points. The answers she gave to Katie Couric lowered the bar for her- so she just had to bob on the surface to look successful. I am glad that she didn't embarass herself further- I wouldn't wish that on anyone- but she didn't impress me.   And her unrelenting colloquial style is just unappealling- to me.

The reason she does so bad in interviews, is they force her to answer the questions.Then you get to hear the real Palin. All she did tonight was read the script that was given to her. She did that pretty well. She was asked tonight to explain McCain's Health Insurance Plan........No answer. She was asked to explain McCains Tax Cuts......No answer. She was asked to explain McCain's Iraq Policy. No Answer.

I think Sarah Palin did herself good tonight. Good for what? I don't know.
I think Biden did what he needed to do. Obama is so far ahead, all he needed to do, was not attack her and make an idiot out of her.
I am still insulted that John McCain would pick this totally unqualified person as his VP. His political stunt has back fired on him.
She did nothing to close the 125 electoral lead Obama has in the polls.

The reason she did so badly is because she is not incredibly experienced.  And, did you see couric just like the other ahole that interviewed her the first time with their glasses half way down, looking over them .......that is the most intimidating and meant to make her look foolish.......****.....even my Dr. after unteen million years of training has to go back to his reference to answer questions.......give me a break.  they f-ed her over in those interviews......unfair....anyone else would have walked out of that humiliation. I think she did great up agaist couric and the rest of them .....considering the situation...all that matters is what she did tonight........it was her in her element doing what she does well, debate.......nobody does well under interrogation..thats exactly what those "interviews" were ........The real Palin shined tonight........McCain should be very proud of his choice........

Interrogation? Couric asked her what newspapers and magazines she reads. Wow, major ambush.She is a journalism major.She said she reads them all, but could not name one. She asked her if she disagreed with any Supreme Court Rulings. She said yes. So, she asked which one? OMG, How rude of Katie.
Come on, they don't treat her any different than any other candidate.
How can you have a Vice President who can't handle an interview with Katie Curic?

Check out the other Palin thread,  you and I are in agreement on her inability to answer just a basic straight-forward question.   The way things are looking here, we may want to  grab a gun, shoot a moose and check on the Russians, before we share  a 6 pack with Joe and head to the soccer game.  I think we are now in the minority, on this site anyway!

I dont think she named any mags because then every one would be beeotchin that she "endorsed" such and such!!  She's not a typical politician. Maybe thats what we need. She doesnt play with the boys in DC, she may be lacking in some experience....the biggest experience lack though......is playing politics.....I think with her you get the real deal.....getting the job done without all the political bull pucky.....I think she's doing a good job up against the players and the medial who knows the game too.....especially considering she IS a politician but not the kind that play like a social club in DC....Just my opion

I have to say, there were so many moments that my stomach cringed when Palin spoke. If this is the real Palin, she probably should go back to Alaska and enjoy her popularity with all the men. Wink, Wink.
If Palin was intimadated by Couric, she is certainly not ready for the big time. There would be a lot more intimadating advisaries she would have to deal with as VP or Pres, where her cutsie, Pom-Pom girl atitude just won't cut it.  I could have done better in the Couric interview than she did.
I think it's a bad sign that people set the bar so low for her. Shouldn't we be setting the bar way up there for the leaders of our country?
I think it's insanity that people are attracted to this woman for the VP/Pres position. This is not the position for Head of the Bake Sale, she's trying out for. Did you listen to her? Did you catch the answers she gave?  Or where you blinded by her cuteness?   I don't see Osama Ben Laden decideing not to kill us because Palin winked at him....actually, he might go for her first.
I'm afraid she might decorate the White House with Moose Heads and Teddy Bears.

BUT.....the bottom line is where she stands on the issues.  I personally don't agree with where she stands on taxes, healthcare, global warming, war, abortion, or how she plans to turn this economy around.  Would she be a good administrator of a company ...yes ...probably, but to change the direction of this country.....nope.

Okay this is one issue I will say something about since I have a degree in a science field and worked for an environmental company. Global warming is not all man made. People may have accelerated it but we have had many different weather cycles throughout history and have only recorded weather in the last 150 years. We have had extreme cold and extreme hot and everything in between. We definitely haven't helped it but it started before us.

I agree.  Biden isn't a "change you can count on."  He's a part of the history that has us where we are now.  He's one of the Washington insiders.  I like him and how he handled the situation with his wife dying tragically and was there for his kids.  But, other than that, he's just like every other insider in Washington.  We need real change and I truly believe someone like Palin could be that change.  She even made sure the country knew last night she wasn't a Washignton insider.  That was hilarious!  Of course, McCain is an insider too. Obama is extremely inexperienced - even moreso than Palin.  I think a lot of conservatives wish Palin was the nominee for President.

Sooo true.  Most people that have a 17 yr old pregnant daughter will not be able to afford a nanny. Most teenage pregnancies cause them to drop out of school.  Her daughter and family has been afforded many luxuries that most are not.

Wait a minute!  How can you put things like this aside?  Anyone who has read Farley Mowats book "Never Cry Wolf," will shake their head over the wolf vs. Carribou thing.  

Anyone who has ever taken care of a rape victim, was one, or knows one, will shake their heads over even the possibility of furthering the victimization of that person with getting a bill....or bills...in the mail following an exam.  (Imagine Jane Doe, now home and into rape recovery, trying to put her life back together.  She goes to the mail and gets her first bill  "Rape Kit $XXX, rape exam $XXX, Box of kleenex $XX, etc.)  Then after the initial onslaught of that bill, weeks later she gets another...this one from the lab and the MD who "read the report" etc....disgusting!

As for teenage pregnancy...I have a 17 year old who, if she came to me and asked me to get her any form of birth control from condoms to pills I would see that they are provided, even with my Catholic background.  Unwanted parenting is causing a backlash in our culture that we can't even begin to quanitfy!

It is by a person's fundamental actions and comments that we emerge with an idea as to their character.   Palin's character is highly questionable to me.
