I read your advice for matt. I am a type 1 diabetic. Yet I have a severe problem. I have been snorting percocet 30 mgs. for about a year. I was a serious gym enthusiast and in great shape. Now I feel myself dwindling away. I feel like there is no way I could stop taking them. Im getting closer and closer to losing everything. I cant go to a clinic, I have a great job, and if I went to a clinic my job would find out and I would lose everything. My family doesnt trust me, I dont even trust myself. Please any advice you could give me would be great. I need help, I want my old life back. Thanks for listening

I got in on this thread late but wanted to welcome you to the forum and let you know that what you are feeling will start getting better around tomorrow night.  Just hang on, hun.   I am glad you got the Thomas Recipe I have heard it really helps a lot.
Its temporary, the physical symptoms.   After that, keep posting here to talk about the mental cravings.   We really do help each other out and Tim is right, we could use another man onboard.
hugs to you

You will get back to yourself and get your energy back.  I was also very active.  My job required it and we had to be in shape to perform our job.  Once these things got ahold of me after the surgeries, I would get winded walking up our flight of stairs and that's when I got my *** off the couch to actually walk upstairs. Now I am getting back to myself, going for walks, getting out of the house, wanting to get back to the gym..The clouds will start to clear in your head in a few days. You won't feel like this forever.

I was very athletic before I got hooked on these pills. My entire life has changed from them. Every pleasure that I had is now gone. My only pleasure for over 14 months is hydros. I have stopped doing activities with my family and want to do nothing. I really can't think clearly anymore and my only real pleasure is the yellow ladies. I can't eat or sleep either and that comes with the territory. Try to make a smoothie, frappe or maybe ice cream. If you are using the toilet a lot, you might want to wait till that passes before you have any cream. Yogurt is good for you and easy to tolerate. I had the dry heaves the first 2 mornings. I was taking 15-20 10/325 hydros. I hate the crawling out of the skin feeling. I am very lucky that I have a business with my brother. If not, I would have been fired a long time ago. Keep up the good work and tomorrow we hit day 4!!!!

God Bless,
Tim

I never pictured myself an addict either.  It starts out very legitimate and can take over. It doesn't make you a bad person.  No one judges you here, don't judge yourself.  Just try to get better, which your doing.

I don't know if Tim really minds being surrounded by the ladies...lol...

I am on day 3 too!!!! I know how you are feeling and it isn't good at all. I am at work and so sick. This is one of the most difficult things I have ever done. It is going to be tough for about 5-7 days. The first time I quit, I was better on day 5. We are going to have to fight those cravings after the w/d's and that is tougher. I am rooting for you and know we can do this. Please keep posting on the board and you will get so much support.

I could really use another man here because we have majority ladies :)  Very nice ladies who are always here for us.

Tim

I know it feels like forever since you had a feeling authentically produced by you, I felt the same way. I feel I maintained a personality with the pills.  I forgot I had a personality after the drugs took over.  Now I remember and feel so much better being able to function without having to have a pill.  It's nice to not have to make up excuses to aviod social gatherings cuz you don't have the pills to get through them. Try to remember those days.  The searching, seeking, pill popping, coming off, when will I get more?, non- functioning days can be over very soon.  I know how bad you want it, I still want the pills now and then, but I don't want it at that price.  You can pull through this. Do the recipe, thankfully I never needed it, but I hear it really does help.  Keep posting.

They are horrible but you are making a huge step every minute you are clean!  This will end - trust me - you will only feel like this for a few more days at the most and then it slowly gets better!  I have been an addict for 10 years - so please make this your last time having to go cold turkey...you will feel better clean.  Don't end up like me and throw away 10 years.  The cravings are going to be there at times - just ask for help.  Maybe even consider an NA meeting when you feel up to it.  There is also a drug called suboxone that is supposed to be pretty good...I have not taken it but some here have and it is supposed to be helpful for the w/d's.

This will get better! In a day or two, you should be past the more severe physical symptoms.  Then for a few days you will probably feel pretty low, like no energy and not want to do anything. Then on the other side is having your energy back, personality emerging again and best of all...HOPE that you can do this and you will be okay.  It's worth every minute to 'FEEL" again and not synthetic, but real feelings.  You are not far from those days..Just a few more to go. You can do it. I am new to this site as well and the people here are amazing.  Keep in touch here and I think it will help alot.

My best thoughts, prayers and wishes for you.

Now calm down sweetie!  Here is the Thomas Recipe - it helps but you are still going to go through some stuff.  Do you have any benzo's like Valium or Xanax available?  It is part of the recipe but are very addicting - becareful...here it is:

THOMAS RECIPE

If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.

For the Recipe, You'll need:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.

2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).

5. Vitamin B6 caps.

6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:

Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.

Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.

During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.

Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.

At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.

Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.
