Thank You for your support

I want to thank so many of you that have been here for me, when I was truly at my wit's end of trying to be there for my daughter and her horrid addiction to oxy, and a multitude of other drugs.  My last "desperation post" was 2/4/09,  the following day she entered rehab for the 3rd time......  and she has been clean since that time.  Wow four months,  for a while I had lost hope, and that is a desperate feeling!  If it had not been for the help (and a lot of life experience knowledge) I was given here and from Al-Anon, I'm not sure I would have had the strength to make it,  at least not with my sanity intact! lol (altho that may be in question!)

Last night at her home group (NA) she was asked to be an official  "greeter" for new people, due to her enthusiasm and outgoing positive attitude.  I can't tell you how proud I am of her, and what a huge compliment that is to her commitment of sobriety.  And so necessary as she rebuilds her self esteem, self respect, as well as her life.  Where she attended in-patient and IOP and continues group meetings, the director has told her she can "intern" there as she has changed her major and wants to go into drug addiction counceling, once she builds up more college credits in that field.

I am not so naive to think this struggle is over, but it was very important to me  to share some of the positive success she is experiencing.   And to say thank you so very much for all of your support over the past year-plus I have been on MedHelp.  From my heart, I thank you.

The struggle is never over but all of us addicts are more than just addicts; we just made some wrong choices.  Your comments have helped me more than I can say and I hope and pray that your daughter's struggle with oxys become less difficult with time.  The Xanax weaning I am going through has helped me see more clearly what your daughter must have gone through to get this far and how fortunate she is to have a mother like you to support her and tell her how proud you are of her and how much you love her.

Big hugs to you both .... wolf
