Thank you! I woke up and went straight to the toilet. I had to vomit. i have horrible headache. I thought about what was said. It would have been easier to get off all opiates by just stepping down the hydrocodone. This am i only took 1/3 of a the slip. I couldn't eat, drink nothing. I am barely getting saltines down. I felt so bad I figured I must be going through withdrawals but from the hydrocodone or the new sub? This is only 3 doses in! What on earth is happening! I took the balance of the slip under tongue but my mouth was so dry it sat there and then saliva carried the taste all over my tounge. GROSS! i had to throw up again. I ate a cracker put heating pillow behind my head for severe pain and I finally went to sleep. I'm just getting back up and first thing? to the bathroom throwing up everything I managed to get in me prior to falling asleep. I feel so sick. This entire thing is ridiculous. I wonder how long I can be sick like this. keeping nothing down. Do I take another full 4mg Sub on empty stomach??This makes me sicker I think I don't know. I dislike this altogether. I want to snap my fingers and make it all better for everyone dealing with this. My gosh I hope i can get to my child's soccer game tomorrow. wow...Terrified. confused.
Hi!
Welcome, I totally agree with Acting Brand New & needhelp144 Suboxone is a) not an effective pain management drug for those who are already acclimated to opiates b) there has been little long term study on it c) side effects include, depression, headache, low energy & memory loss. I've done it myself as a stepdown from Methadone. Do not stay on this drug it is hepatotoxic and is WILDLY fat soluble, binds tightly to your receptors and is arguably the most difficult opiate to kick.Did you know that it is contra-indicated with benzos because of their combined effect on liver/kidneys? I can't believe doctors switch people from Norcos to Subs. I know, you're in pain and that there are other issues. I'm relieved to hear that your experience wasn't encouraging. Do the research. Never just listen to your doctor unless he's been there - double check. Ask around..and keep coming back. The fewer medications you do - the less of a roller coaster ride you'll be on. The better you eat, hydrate, sleep,& exercise (if possible) the more stable you'll be on your Meds. I wish you all the best..and am sending good thoughts/wishes/prayers your way,
Please only use for a short amount of time Suboxone W/D can be worse than opiate W/D.
Thank you so so much. I was definately misinformed. I took the second dose tonight and nearly puked. I cannot believe I was given this medication and NOT the option of just going down in mg's on hydrocodone. I now want to be off of all of it. But safely. I will be researching tomorrow. Right now I just wanted to ad, that second dose was 10x worse for me as the 1st. No Joke. My child looked at me and said, Mom are you having a stroke! HAHA She is 10. I got pale, sweaty and stooped over the toilet bowl but never did puke. I notice I'm very thirsty. I have not urinated but few times today. I usually go much more than this as I am always with water or tea or something to drink (non alcoholic). I'm nodding off at this laptop so I'm done with this day. I am thinking if I try 2 mg in am rather than the 4. It was WAY WAY toooooo much today. Can't one withdraw from Narco's in like 3 days or something? I read that on here somewhere. I'm done I posted my first day in my journal on my profile. didn't get to tonight's esperience. Will update tomorrow. Thank you all for the welcome!!!
In Peace and best wishes!
I also took a high dose had to lower to 4 myself. From 16!!!! First 3 days bad. Same vomit, headaches. It went away and I'm ok. Don't love it or hate it, but am stable.
I never felt high when I took it but I think I was so exhausted by the time 24 hours of withdrawals were up I wouldn't of noticed if it did. I took it and passed out.
The first couple of times I took it I did feel a bit high. That goes away quickly. I did also get a bit shaky and did vomit a little bit the first couple if days...that goes away pretty quickly as well. You will start to even out and feel normal soon...just give it a little time. Good luck....
I just started suboxone on feb 24th and you do feel icky for awhile.
Hi there- it's entirely up to you whether you want to continue with Suboxone. If you're wanting to see where your pain level is right now...the best way would be to stop all opiates and then reevaluate the pain.
Suboxone is definitely a very strong drug. You might have been better off tapering from the hydro instead of going this route. You've got some thinking to do and some research to do. There's a lot of support here so keep in touch and ask questions.
Here is some great info on Suboxone. I copied and pasted some but please read the whole article at the link below it. Oh...and welcome to the forum :)
"Due to the fact that Sub has only been available for a couple of years in the United States there are a lot of questions that arise. Doctors are very misinformed about proper dosages, discontinuation of use, the existence of withdrawal symptoms, and length of withdrawal. This is due in part that most documentation pertaining to treatment, has conveniently been written to promote this medication as a harmless, pain-free way of detoxification and treatment for addiction. Most people are unaware that Buprenorphine is a potent opioid with a strength 50 times greater than morphine. The only reason it is considered safe is because of its partial agonist abilities, a partial agonist will only get you high or stimulate your receptors to a certain point, then it actually blocks itself out... so in actuality, taking more or high doses will do nothing but get you sick. A normal dose after you are stable for is around 6mg to 8mg. If your doctor is prescribing you amounts much higher than that (like 24mg to 96mg) then you doctor does not have much practical experience with this medication. "
