Once I went to a meeting I didn't know what had taken me so long! The only thing to fear is fear itself! The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step~
Good for you!! Get going ASAP! You will feel a big weight lifted. You will hear many stories that You will surely relate too.
I go to both AA/NA even if I had not had a drink in 9 years I still am a Addict. When you start going you will feel a very spiritual bond and you will want to keep going. I will give you a few tips that I did..This is only from my experience. You will be told to get a Sponsor, so as you go to many meetings you will find some one that you like and trust and is either going to be a little tough on you or a bit easier..I am as stubborn as they come so I need a hard nose. You can pick a Temporary one at first..YOU do not have to rush into the steps like a homework assignment that has to all be done in one week..The Steps will flow as you go. This is why it is good to go to all kinds of AA/NA meetings so you can feel and hear more. A sponsor is one that you will work with one on one. Sometimes in our life we need a bit more..Like Church or Bible Study or whatever works. You can find some IOP that you can have a one and one with a therapist or in a group with a counsel..SUPPORT in all areas of your Life will save your Life. My DR is one of my biggest supports. My Hub & some of my Family is too. I wish you the best..NOW what are you waiting for!!!! lol
Bless
I know it's scary at first...but you will be welcomed with open arms...you don't have to talk right now if you don't want to...just listen....then get some phone numbers...they will, or should offer you some of the guys numbers...I think it will help you alot...I had to force myself to walk in alone...but I did it and I'm glad I did....just go for it!! you can do it!! fear of the unknown is always the worst.
Be prepared for the "that's my story, that's me" then all the support you need. You will be surprised at the feeling of knowing the people all your life. They are all eager to help and share with you. You don't have to say anything, they know how you feel. You'll love it/ God bless
I told you yesterday to get out of your head and get to a meeting. Talk and meet new people who are where you are or have gone before you and can give you suggestions and share their experience. You have been talking about going to a meeting long enough. Just go.
Its day 8 not and ive been kinda hanging around here for a week....just feel i need someone to talk to face to face...i dunno...been a a scarey place to be in my mind past couple days and i dunno think i just need to be arpund people
I gave you the link yesterday to find a meeting. Let us know how it goes.
Awesome idea. You have been working do hard and need this. How many days now? 7 or 8? NA meeting. Be prepared to be welcomed and congratulated. You will talk asuch or little as you want. If you split into small groups, you will talk more. You need this. Keep you motivated when you are at home so you don't think too much. Find one at a church or at a AA hall. They have NA meetings too. And if there isn't one, go to an AA meeting instead. Doesn't matter. It is all the same principles. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
