Congrats on 61 Days.. Glad that foot is feeling better.
I just have to let you all know that my foot feels WONDERFUL today! I think that shot really helped! Thank you all for your prayers!
Thanks Cissy and gnarly! I never thought of rebound pain. I also had neck surgery and thankfully that has been good. But after the shot and the news yesterday I just got really down because I loved my high heels! I am only 36 and now I have to start thinking of the future with shoes. I will also see about 800mg ibprofine I forgot about that!
You guys are awesome! Thanks for responding! God Bless!
HI I suffer with chronic pain also in my lower back you might want to ask your dr for some 800mg ibuprofine ...thats what I use now and it usually takes the edge off it no fun hurting
and back pain is a HUGE trigger for me...I crave them by the 1/2 dozen when I hurt
with aftercare I have learned to get around it but it is an issue hang in there and congrats on your clean time good luck and God bless......Gnarly
Please know I am praying for you and I truly can relate as I've had 2 surgeries on my foot and it's now disabled. I can walk but have lots of pain, had my last surgery 3 years ago and all I can wear is tennis shoes the mule ones with the open back.
I deal with lots of pain with it today, and have been off my pills 22 days today and so far so good. I find when it hurts really bad I can soak it in hot water or just get my mind really busy and sometimes before I know it the pain is gone.
My doctor told me when I gave up my refills I would have rebound pain.............but in time that would be easier.
Please know I feel for you and your not alone.
Cissy
Laurel no hun I probably need to use them. hee hee ( I am such a klutz) Thank you for your kind words!
To IwillQuit2: yes the mental part stays with you but I have to say the good days outweigh the bad! I just feel like I had a minor set back because of the Dr visit. God has brought me and us through a lot. I could never go back to that place again. I don't want to go through it all over that was horrible! I had the worst physical WD.'s. I am in a good place! We just need encouragement sometimes to help us along the way! Congratulations on your 10 days! This is the best decision anyone could make! I will be praying for you too!
God Bless!
Stay stong nomore(:
I'm praying for you. I get the mental part, I'm only 10 days but it is far worse than the wds. At least they go away!
are you using a pair of crutches ? don't get hurt by trying to walk ..
Thanks all! The advil seems to be working some. It's when I walk when it starts to rear it's ugly head. I have been doing a lot of sitting today at work and of course the rain is not helping today. I am just feeling very discouraged today and I need to rock myself out of this boat. I have a meeting tonight so maybe that will help. I have a good husband- he just doesn't understand all of this so it's hard for me to put it all on him. He is very frustrated with the Dr. that did this to me and keeps asking why we can't sue. I said ahhh because he has that piece of paper on me with all the places I went to get pills.... Oh what addiction can do to a person.
I am glad you are back home from the hospital elemenoh! Praying for a speedy recovery!
God Bless!
All the best , Nomore.... you are truly a wonderful woman and i hope you will have luck with the shot and the pain won't be excrutiating.... sending my best wishes to you !!!!!!!!!! :) :)
Welcome home LMNO !!!!! hope you are feeliing better too
El ~ ...and you had a HUGE anniversary!! I'm going to post that for ya!!! xo
It's good to be back on the block Vicki!
Been in & out of the hospital for the last month or so (explains my absence).
Hi! I agree with LMNO ! Don't suffer like this...pain is a huge trigger so it's best to do what you need to and be comfortable in an appropriate fashion. Get some pain meds and turn them over to someone to dose you prn. It's not a failure by any means,in my opinion.
Good luck and let us know how you are~~
**Welcome "home" LMNO !!!
I'm in recovery (sob date: 10/7/09), and have a constant need for narcotic painkillers due to a genetic disorder that causes me to produce large numbers/sized kidney-stones at regular monthly intervals. I feel your pain sister.
All I can say is CONGRATULATIONS for resisting the prescription, but I will say this: None of us was meant to suffer. If you are truly in pain, and truly in need of pain-meds, then I suggest you take what you need to take in order to get you out of pain. Have a responsible (non-addict) handle the safe-keeping and distribution/"control" of your meds, and you'll be fine.
My wife has been a life-saver in this respect (ask JayBay... she'll tell you how awesome my wife is!), and whenever I'm discharged from the hospital with an Rx, she goes with me to the pharmacy to fill it, then handles the monitoring and distribution.
I wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted.
You're right: OUCHIE MOMMA! Give yourself a huge gold star for resisting the urge to ask for a prescription. That's awesome! You might try Aleve instead of Advil for the pain. Personally, I've found it works a lot better for orthopedic pain. The only drawback is that it trashes my stomach after a few days, so I alternate with Advil. Did your doctor advise you about using ice and/or heat a couple times a day? Give him a call and ask about that and any other palliative therapies you can try in the meantime. Thanks for sharing your good news!
