11 months CLEAN from Methadone (High dose almost no taper)

11 months ago (almost 12) I dropped off 60 mgs Methadone way too fast.

But I did it.

No real cravings. This might just be me personally.

Took until about month 7 to sleep normally. Still don't sleep like I used to.

Nerve problems and shaking (shaky hands and anxiety) stopped after around 6 months. Gradually getting better. No nerve issues anymore at month 11 thank GOD!

To this day still have a little depression that seems misplaced. Some days are better than others. Each month that goes on I have more better days than not.

I seem to have done some serious damage to my stomach lining during the process. Stomach bloating and inability to properly digest are an issue still. It seems to be the thing that is healing the slowest.

Overall it is the best thing I have done for myself yet. It is a major accomplishment to break through that hell. The process of healing is so slow that you really don't even notice you are healing. You kind of just wake up one day and are like "Oh, well damn... I've been feeling a little better." You should feel very proud when you get through because almost nobody has faith that you will. Even my family doctor rolled his eyes at me.

Anybody that wants help or to know what I did (really the only thing you can do is go through it) just let me know. Here to talk.

Great post, Mandi!  Congratulations on your clean time!  Can you tell us more about:
- What inspired you to to this - I.e., how you got so determined that you just quit, cold turkey?
- What's helped you the most, to get thru PAWS - I.e., how do you deal with cravings and anxiety?

We could all learn from your success story.  Keep it up!!

Congratulations to YOU..Someone I can relate to beside Weaver to the tee..I got down to 30mg and jumped off and I am 5days ahead of you from a long, long time use. It was a bit different for me in Some ways because I also was snorting it with illegal adderral for the Big Buzz and taking a benzo at night to come down. I experienced many stages and they do go slow as we heal. SO far this month has been the best yet. I do still have some waves come and go but they are less and less. I was told by many Dr that it could take a Year or Two for the Brain Chems to balance back. I feel good up-stairs but it is the body that does not want to follow as well as it did. Of course I am 57 and we do not bounce back as quick as we did when we were younger, for me anyway. Great Post and welcome to our community.

Great to hear from you. I relate to everything you wrote, it was 10 months for me to feel good. I kept thinking I was healed as much as I was gonna, then I would feel even better. Long term high dose methadone is a beast for sure, but like you said, quiting is the best thing we can do for ourselves. Congrats on your progress.

You may try drinking a little Aloe juice every day for awhile. My stomach finally leveled out at 1 year. It was one of those things where I all of a sudden realized, Wow, my digestion is better.
