12 years on Stadol

I am now going off Stadol NS after being on for 12 years. (6 bottles every nine days)  I am miserable...I can't eat, vomitting, diareaha, ringing in my ears, blurry vision, extremely tired and my liver hurts.  Is this typical of Stadol withdrawal? It's been 19 days and things are not getting better. My dr says the drug is out of my system but why am I so miserable?  HELP!!!!?

Glad to hear you are feeling better today.  Good that you have had few cravings.  I would be interested in reading your journal.

Thanks for your encouragement.  It is now day 21. I am feeling better today.  I'm not out of the woods yet but I am sticking with it.
I was put on Stadol for RSD not migraines.  I just recently worked with a ND in New Jersey and got relief from the pain through oxygen, pemf and message therapy.  I'm now controlling my pain with essentail oils. I've also started getting colonics to assist my liver process all these toxins.
They pain dr took me off Stadol and put me on Moraphine.  The Moraphine made me vomit and I vomitted for 3 days solid.  I ruptured the blood vessels in my stomach and esaphageous and now on a ulcer med and zofran for nausea.  All the dr (my own and hospital) says the drug is out of my system and I'm not in withdrawal.  Yea...right.
Anyway...I sipped Gatorade every ten minutes Thursday and then on Friday I ate a little soup.  Today I ate a little breakfast and feeling better.  I'm still real weak but I'm hanging in there.  Fortunately I have had very few cravings.  Maybe once a day. A friend has also given me a cd that retrains the brain for addicition.  That has helped relaxed me.
I am studying for my nd (naturaphatic doctors) but got side tracked by this RSD.  Fortunately, I think, my training, has helped things from being worse.
But the words of encouragement from all of you has helped.
Keep in touch.  I'll keep you updated.  Some day I'll post my journal of this detox.

when I read your post my first thought was dehydration like some of the others suggested.  I also recommend a dr check.   congrats on making it this far.  That is huge.

yeah, that IS a long time to be going through withdrawal. i would wonder if there just might be something else going on.

congrats on going off the stadol, though. it's truly a nasty drug to get addicted to. please keep us posted on what your dr says. thats a lot of stadol for a long long time...it could be that improper withdrawal (not keeping hydrated, etc) has perpetuated the symptoms? so like vicki said, it could be dehydration. but give your dr a call and see what they suggest. does your dr know what you're doing?

and i'm assuming you were on this for migraines? how are those doing?

The safest thing for you to do is to go back to the doctor and get looked at.
I don't know if you tapered this or stopped one fine day but this is too long to have those symptoms. Everything you describe is typical of dehydration.
So,you need to slowly increase your fluids, treat the diarrhea, and eat in order to get your blood sugar back up.

It would be much better to be looked at though so you can get your b/p checked, heart and lungs listened to,and overall assessment of your condition.

Keep in touch!

Hey flyfar,so you have been to the doc to get checked out for any other problems? Stadol is very powerful and you were on it for a long period of time.It could take a few more days before you start to feel better but I would get checked out if I could and ask the doc if he could give you something non-narcotic to help you.Clonidine would probably help alot.Hang in there you are doing good. This is just tough (understatement)
