2nd Day

Well after eating through 8-10 10mg. Vicodin daily for over 2 years... I am on day 2 of stopping...cold turkey...probably not the smartest way to go but I am praying that with help from my wive and a good friend I can get through this...I have so much to be thankful for...and I am going to kick this...yesterday...not so bad..good attitude...today I spent time with my wife to go over what she has long suspected...so that along with a friend of mine have committed to see me through this.  Today...shakey legs, numerous trips to the bathroom...overall crappy attitude...I hope I know what to expect.  My wife pciked me up some gtoraid and Hyland's for the RLS...I also have a script for Xanax waiting for me at the RX...should I have my wife pick this up and administer to me?  I need some prayers and support...I want my life back...

Oh about XANAX I think that's a benzo...they gave it to me when i was ct off oxys, diluadid and oxycodone bc I ended up in er dehydrated bc I hadn't found this site yet....Bhutan anyway it helped greatly with rls but she only gave me ten which I have 5 left not my doc so not a problem....just letting u know..  I'm new to this so don't know the bad stuff but if u take just one at night helps a lot with rls... Good luck....its worth it..

Way to go. I'm on day 20 and feeling better everyday.  try to stay positive and fight as hard as you can.  This is a fight for your life and you are worth it.  Best of luck.

Congrats on 48 hrs clean! It's great that you have your wife and a good friend to support you as well as finding this forum. I think maybe you should try Valerian Root for anxiety first..also at a health Food store  Yogi Relaxation tea. I say this because I have heard these work really well. I have to find Gnarly's post on the tea..not sure I have the correct name, You have made it for two days without the need of a Benzo..maybe keep doing what you're doing. I say this because I had been taking oxycodone and xanax for years..and was able to stop the oxycodone pretty quickly, whereas the benzo needs to be tapered. because of possible seizures!. I know if you only take for a couple days you won't necessarily get dependant..but why substitute another drug if you don't have to? Just my take on it. Hot baths w/Epson Salt.. Keep posting, i know that helped me so much. I wish you well.

Welcome and congratulations! You'll do well. Lots of new friends want to see you clean!
I'd say yes, have only wife administer the Xanax. Best if you don't need it, but if you think of it strictly as a temporary addition to your clean and sober toolbox, it'll be fine. I like to recommend Aleve for the aches and pains if you can safely take it (some folks are on meds that don't go with it). It is superior to Tylenol because it is a combination pain reliever and anti-inflammatory; Tylenol is not. Others will recommend things that work for them, too. Just ask lots of questions and stick close over the next few days/weeks to come. Again, welcome!
