My hubby has Stage 3 kidney disease. It came as a surprise "out of nowhere" just before a surgery he had last year.
He DID previously have high b/p which may have been the cause and now takes specific meds approved by the nephrologist (kidney specialist) to keep it under control. The VERY FIRST thing this specialist told him was NOT to EVER take an NSAID med (anti-inflammatory) medication.
He uses Tylenol (acetaminophen) for otc pain control now.
One other thing.....up your WATER INTAKE....A LOT.......like good, pure water. A good gage is to drink as many ounces of water as half your body weight, i.e., if you weigh 140 lbs.....drink a MINIMUM of 70 oz of water.
My hubby's eGFR rate greatly improved after he told the dr. "my wife hooked a garden hose up to my mouth"..LOL His filtration rate (which is how they determine which stage your kidney disease is in) improved remarkably just by intentionally adding beaucoup amounts of water.
Blessings to you~
Prolonged use of ibuprofen can cause kidney failure, as well.
yes high bp and opiates and/or the Tylenol in them can both cause reduced kidney function.
are you being treated for your high bp (hypertension)?
do you take pain meds (opiates)?
