That's interesting to know! Personally, I'm going to have to agree with you after my experience! I felt really pretty good before I started on all of those supplements, and then what I described happened, got so dizzy and even fainted, I couldn't even get out of bed. My mom had to stay over until my boyfriend got home because she was afraid I was going to pass out and no one would know. Today, I feel back to the way I felt before I took it, so I'm just not going to take any of it anymore. It scared the hell out of me to be honest, I have taken large amounts of pain drugs, mixed uppers with downers, mixed both with alcohol and STILL have never felt so strange and disoriented/miserable my entire life, it was worse than the withdrawal!
i took the Ltyrosine and 5htp for the first 3 months after detoxing, Iamgoingtomakeit, and they worked for me, don't know if they acted as a placebo for my mind and i don't care as long as they worked for me :)
what we can not expect is that there is stuff so that we do not feel the consecuences of being addicted to substances for years.... those advices can help, sometimes it is only a little help but that's all, we have to be realistic.... a healthy diet, rest and exercise are the best suggestions on the long term and give ourselves time to heal.
Hello,
I have been taking the L-tyrosine and i feel it helps great! Unless my brain is just tricking me into thinking that I am getting the energy from them or not (since i take them upon rising), but i do get out and about, you know what else helps with me, 5HTP, supposedly, it helps with serotonin, which is what we need i believe. this is just my experience with it. In the amino acid protocol, it does say that the tyrosine isn't usually given to detoxers but if you feel no energy then take it. I do, however, feel that your incident with the passign out and headache was not caused by the tyrosine, i never felt that, maybe your taking too much. you must not mix SamE with the 5HTP or with anti-depressants or SSRI's. Do research on the herbal supplements and make your own determination on what you feel you need, remember, it is different for all of us, I am happy to report day 17 or something, i stopped counting, it was depressing. But, now through the physical part, the mental part is VERY TOUGH. Anyways, good luck, and keep on truckin, use only what your body will accept, don't take anyones advice too hard, and feel it out on your own, you will find the right mix of vits/mins/protiens/supplements, etc.
i never experimented any problem with ltyrosine ( but i didn't take the dose recommended, they were a little too high, imo, and i'm wary with taking high doses of anything now ).
you are talking from your experience, longerdays, so i imagine is as anecdotal as those from the others... besides, you are right that we should always be careful with taking any stuff and not take anything just because others tell us. The thomas recipe is a guide and people should be wise enough to take what may help them and leave the rest.
nomo, hope everything will be allright for you soon then and you'll feel better :)
Really hard to know, but what you describe is similar to what I experienced when I followed advice about the Thomas recipe, which was a huge mistake.
I had a horrible experience with L-Tyrosine, which is why I caution people who are directed to the Thomas recipe not to believe all hype about it, which is based on nothing more than anecdotal experience and nothing more. The L-Tyrosine made me so dizzy that I couldn't stand up, and my headache was so bad that I couldn't fall asleep, and neither it nor the other elements of the recipe eased the discomfort of withdrawal except the immodium. But people in the early part of withdrawal are game to try anything that may ease the discomfort (I was the same way).

No, I'm not on any antidepressants. I have been taking adipex for the last month and never had any side effects from it until this week. It may have been just a fluke I guess, I just found that weird and was afraid to take anything else!
from what i know, aminos don't build up, they are "expelled" daily ( the same way as proteins )....so if you were not taking ltyrosine, don't think the problem was because of it. Are you sure that this adipex , this weight loss is safe to take ? also, are you taking any antidepressants? i know they interact with sam-e... you could check any interaction with a tool made for it...
