8 days clean and more questions secondary wD? Possible?

Hi all! Starting a new thread at the advice of a buddy. Thanks for all my people on here that virtually pulled me thru hell and back. Got some new questions. So today is day 8. But last nite the jumpy legs tossing turning tummy issues paid me a visit. Still feeling it today. I haven't eaten much at all and I've tried to keep hydrated. Just wondering what's up with this? NOT as bad as full on wD but it crossed my mind and some Kind of secondary thing I'm going thru?

Honestly-
I am as okay as I'm gonna be right now.  It is a terrible struggle for me putting ANY pain meds in my mouth- even these that don't give me a buzz and just take the edge off the pain, make me sleepy and nauseous, and ATM terribly constipated from being on bed rest and given a whole wack load in the hospital.  Ugh it's the worst.
I won't ever take Oxy again.  Never.  I have had to take pain meds for significant periods of time leading up to and post difficult surgeries.  Both times my doctor switched me to oxy saying it was a better pain reliever, I immediately got that 'buzz' which I both liked and hated cause it scared the living crap out of me.  I only ever ran out of pills early when I took oxy.  So TWICE I cold turkeyed from it.  Like the first time wasn't bad enough (:
So yeah, never ever again.
We all have certain drugs as addicts that trigger us.  Oxy was mine.
And honestly?  It DOES not relieve the pain any better.  I think the doctors get this feedback because their patients claim it does because they like the buzz.
Morphine and dilaudid are pure and in pill form generally make most people feel sleepy and nauseous and not high.

Anyways.  I'm off to bed.  I mean, I've been in bed all day...For 3 days actually.  But I'm off to watch a movie with my love and sleep.
Onwards to your day 9

Yes canteloupe is great.  I ate a TON of it at the beginning.  I understand about the sensitive tummy having Crohn's.  Try the juicing thing minus the greens for now.
This was my fave post detox meal-
Plain grilled lean chicken breast or grilled salmon
steamed peas and carrots (well steamed)
mashed potatoes with a touch of butter.
I think it was day 7 or 8 before I managed a meal but this one was a standard for awhile.
Watch out for the grapes- they can be acidic and the skins are rough on the gut.  Peel them if you can.
I couldn't take supplements by mouth either- something to do with swallowing pills made me gag (can't think why- wink wink)
If you can get some Vit C ascorbate, probiotic and omega 3- open the capsules and add them to your smoothie.  Dairy is not my thing at the best of times but when I detoxed it made me puke every time so do the coconut milk, frozen berries, and banana.
Peppermint tea I drank by the litre.  It was December when I detoxed though, so iced might be easier- although warm or room temp fluid is easier for a sensitive tummy to process.

Oxy is a terrible drug.  The specialist I just saw in the ER tried to push me on it and I said NO so loud the nurse jumped.  He said that it was better for pain than the hydro and I said no, not for me, it just makes me high, and very sick.  NO NO NO NEVER AGAIN.
He relented but I had to stick hard to my guns.

Just keep putting small amounts of things in your body at constant intervals.  I'm a fan of crackers too.  I ate premium plus soda crackers by the box because of the salt and the calming effect they had on my gut.  They aren't the healthiest thing, but if it makes you feel better...DO IT.

Other foods that are high in dopamine are Dark chocolate and green apples.  I ate a lot of these two things for the first couple of weeks of detox.

Lu! One of my angels! Yes the monsters oxy. Yea I will slow back down on the Gatorade. I really think I got dehydrated and maybe a bit malnourished. The minute I got some Gatorade tea and bananas in me some more hylands and I felt better. I just woke up from a nap which is huge! Lol. This morning I felt like I was starting over. So I know better now. I have an extremely sensitive tummy. I normally eat pretty healthy but supplements and dark green things hit my tummy like a rock so for now I am doing whatever sounds good to me cuz I can't handle any more bathroom time. I'm lucky that grapes and canteloupe and berries like me. Xoxooxox

Hey Girl-

Eight days is awesome.  I think you came off oxy, right?  If so- I did too and I can tell you I had days when it felt like things went backwards.  You just have to not focus on it and keep pushing through.  The good nutrition is super important.  I just posted on Gettingalifeagain's thread about what nutritional support benefited ME the most.  So give it a read and see if there is something on there that is within your capability.
It is a roller coaster.  All you can do is ride the waves.  It took me 3 weeks to feel better physically.  But I used for a long period of time and my dosage when I jumped was very high.

I do non-dairy smoothies.  Coconut milk, berries, flaxseed oil, bananas.
Watch the gatorade as it is high in sugar.  Now that you are through acute withdrawals try just straight up water with lemon.
OR-

I just discovered this last summer.  Chlorophyl.  It's greens in liquid form and you add a few drops to water.  It is incredibly hydrating and refreshing, plus you get some nutrition from the Greens.
I'm drinking it right now (:

You are doing awesome and I am SO proud of you.

Hey Vicki. Yessiree you did. Ima prune. Lol. I had some not too bad days so I think I should stayed on the Thomas and worked harder on statying hydrated. Soon as u got me some bananas and Gatorade in me I got some relief. I can't do dairy so I'm not sure I can manage shakes. I think soon as I can tolerate food and more stuff maybe I can do some no dairy smoothies?

I can't me remember if we told you about hot baths with Epsom salts? I'm sure we must have...they really work by forcing the magnesium, the salt contains, into your muscles.   Definitely get some protein drinks. Costco has some that are delicious (chocolate!).

Congrats on 8 days!  I am on day 12.  I have been dealing with the leg cramps and RLS and its driving me nuts!  I did decide to add potassium/magnesium vitamins to the mix.  I take 2 so that is 500/500 of each.  I am thinking its helping.  Last night I didn't have the leg cramps and I even worked out on the treadmill for an hour.  So I am hoping its helping.  I have also been taking Hyland's leg cramp and RLS tablets religiously.  More help the better I guess.

Oh all my buddies and some new ones. Food has been an issue and I agree with everything all y'all say. Lol. I am also kinda leaning that I got mysd a little dehydrated. I don't think the last couple days I've put in more liquids that I lose   So I'm doing a combo brat diet and Thomas recipe. I prolly stopped the Thomas little soon. Big props to my fellow hell survivors. We got this. Thankyou my friends.

I don't know if it's secondary or just a continuation of acute withdrawal.  Sometimes, in the beginning, symptoms come roaring back. I think of it as the brain making one final push to get fed...and it's really part of the brain's healing process.

Don't worry.,treat the symptoms as they appear. Peptobismal,Imodium and magnesium and potassium for RLS...Be sure to get some protein in your diet. Try the shakes; they're good!

Hi Motherhen,  first, congrats on the 8 days.  That, is a great accomplishment and start.  Based on my own personal experience, once you get through the acute phase of detox and withdrawal, you start the roller coaster phase of ups and downs.  Days when you feel pretty good, and then a day or so where you feel like it's day one all over again.  This is normal. The good news is that with time, the good days will outnumber the bad ones.  Hang in there, and keep up the hydration, vitamins, exercise, etc.  You will get through this! Stay strong, and keep moving forward.  Take care.
