90 + days

Got some great comments on my status yesterday and I so appreciated it.
Yesterday I was 90 days clean from a long time addiction to norcos.  I did not think I could get thru the withdrawals, but I found that is not the hard part.  I thought it was, I figured once I was thru with w/d, I would be golden.  LOL
NOPE!  I relapsed and had to start over a few weeks later.  I finally told everyone in my family AND my doctor.  This time seems to have taken.

I have done a lot of self talk, posted here, shared with my daughter about the struggles (son is more...get it done..but don't tell me support)  Husband gets it, he has struggled with alcoholism all our marriage.

I am lucky, I know that.  When I first realized I was addicted I searched for online help and found myself here.  Best decision I ever made.  I found tough love, honest caring and some good online friends....it made all the difference.

I wanted to post to share that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Yes, I have been anxious,  pissed, depressed and miserable.  I have also been clear headed, happy and truly blessed.  My brain still whispers to me every now and then about the pills.  But, I have quit listening.   At 60, I still have some growing up to do, but that is good.  Change is important and I am looking forward to growing and learning how to like me again.  I think my friends see it.  There are so many things I have neglected to do when I was drug happy and I am now sifting thru what I neglected over the years.  I will get it done...like I did getting clean...ONE DAY AT A TIME!

Thank you my friends for being there.  It made all the difference!

I am so HAPPY for you!!!!! You turned the corner and made it!!  Im like 40 days behind ya, and feel great too.  Yes i get that little voice saying "if only i had a pill" but i learned thats just BS, i don't want a darn pill i want LIFE!!!!  Girl, we needed to relapse to realize that we really wanted it this time around, i have learned the hard way as well.  keep on thinking positive and take each day as a gift, enjoy your new clean, clear headed self and treat yourself to a little something nice for all your hard work.  I am so happy and proud for you, remember to hold your clean time and always keep your guard up.  One day at a time and a lifetime of happiness....XO

Ty Sharon, 25 days is great!  I promise it can only get better.  We started here a month apart and yes, your posts have helped so much.  For awhile, I had to limit my time here as it seemed to trigger some mild cravings.  I am glad to say that seems to have passed for the most part.  I hated that, but understood and wanted to protect myself while I worked thru it.  I look forward to being there for your 30, 60 and 90!

It is a daunting task!  Both bathrooms needs to be redone, kitchen updated a bit.  All rooms painted, etc.  So much, almost too much.  One bite of the elephant at a time, I guess.  At least my brain is awake now and I can "getter done" as my friend says way too damn often!!!

Hi littbit, congratulations! You offer help and encouragement which is so important when just starting out. I know it always helps me to read the posts of someone who has made it through where I was.

We are working on redoing our little place too, but we have to do most of it ourselves. I don't get along well with tools either ;) Thank goodness hubby does!

I hope you have a great day, and thank you for being here :)

woke up this morning to some great posts!  Thanks so much it makes all the difference to me in my recovery!

I am getting ready to completely redo the house (not personally, tools and I are not friends).  The house needs a sign in big red letters that says "Delayed Maintenance Mansion"!!  So much to do and I really hate dealing with this stuff.  But, decided I want my house to reflect my new found world!  We will see how this plan goes!  LOL.

As many have said before, if I can do it anyone can!  It is doable, just not a lot of fun!!  When you are ready keep coming here and you will get all the help you need.  Whatever you do...cold turkey, taper with or with help from your doctor it will be the best thing you have ever done.

thanks for posting! It takes a village to get it done!
