Started Suboxene today any advice??? Help??

My name is Rachael, and im a drug addict, i have been addicted to hydros for many years now. With some recovery time in the past but i have been on a 2 year binge taking at least 10-20 10mgs a day.
But i have decided to take my life back. I have nothing i lost my job in july, and im getting out of a very unhealthy relationship, which was revloved around pills. BUT IM TAKING MY LIFE BACK!!! Know more counting pills and planning my day and night around pills.  I hate it!!! So much wasted time!!
Started the Suboxene today they gave me
gave me 8mgs and i have taken 2 so far today and i dont feel terrible but i have such a headache and i think legiatmate pain. Some streching and yawning but really miner. Just dont know whta to expect and what i can take with this...soma..valium as prescribed...
So confused anybody around with some advice or help. The Dr said i can take up to 3 8mgs of the suboxene if needed but im really trying to avoid that.

I was on Lortab for 10 years, taking up to 35 a day, I am on suboxene 12 mg a day, you do not get high, it takes the complusion away to do your other opiates, you have to be followed by a doctor when you are on this, only a doctor that is specialized in suboxene, they have to have a special license.  It helps me sleep, makes me feel good, I go to aa meetings and work the steps, all that combined I am clean and sober. Thank you for your support!  I cant wait to start my life and for all of this to be over. I really do just want to be happy!

I wanted to ask you do you take your sub twice a day or in one dose? I have been taking 8mg in the morning and early evening i take another 8mg. Or should i just take two 8mgs in the morning... Any advice??

Thank you i will check with my doctor first. Today is day 2 of sub and i have been pretty stable with 8mgs twice a day. I just find it hard to sleep and i cant stop sweating?? Weird.. I told everyone in my family that i relapsed and that i took the first step and went to the Dr and got the suboxene and it was like lifting a huge weight off my chest. My parents said they suspected i was taking pills again because i have had really bad  mood swings and I have really been very depressed.
I have been out of work since July and i didnt even care to get another job. The crazy thing is im not a kid im an adult and i used to have a really good job. I just became so withdrawn from everything and everybody. I really want my life back, i feel this is a new begining for me. I want to be happy and i havent been in years and im currently in therapy dealing with my issues so i have HOPE!
Everyone here has been amazing and i look foward to reading all the posts as im here all alone i dont feel like i am. Thanks
Rachael everyone again!!!

I was on pain killers too, about the same amount as you and am now on Sub.  I started out on total 8 mgs of Sub.    4 mgs in the Am and then another 4 mgs around 1 PM.  That did just fine for me. I also take Clonodine at night sometimes to help me sleep. I have been on the Sub since Jan.30th and am down to 6 mgs a day.  Today I'm dropping to 5 mgs a day.
Soma or Valium, make sure you double check with your doctor about mixing those with your Sub.   The Clonodine would be a better choice.
Remeber with the Sub, you are not gonna get high, so don't be looking for it. Thats a habit we try to brake with the Sub.
Good luck and keep posting.

i have had an ongoing problem abusing on and off since i was 13..the addiction didnt start until the year 2000 for me...
i have been on it since may and wouldnt change a thing...and it does make it possible to gain control of your life back...just make sure you are doing more than just taking the pill once your established on a stable dose...get some therapy and work on any issues that may have led you to addiction to begin with, its very important for continued success.

clonidine is a blood pressure medication, it is commonly used to treat withdrawal symptoms, when i was transitioning from methadone to suboxone, the first few days were pretty bad for me...but the clonidine took care of the creepy crawlies, anxiety, sleeplessness and alot of the other things that you can get during induction.
alot of these symptoms happen because of a spike in blood pressure...and the clonidine just makes the transition stage easier...but if you are past that stage...you probably dont need it...

and yeah...dont listen to the horror stories ladies...nothing is as horrid as addiction...NOTHING! and there are success stories out there...just not here.
good luck to you both, and if you have any questions feel free to send me a message...

Yeah you said it we hear so many horror stories, but we just have to just live  our lifes and not let the bad thing we read here get in our way. That's my opinion because it was running my life to the point that I would have harm my self now I know because of my doctor. But thanks best of luck to you too.

Hi sorry to butt in but I was just about to post a question on the same subj, I wanted to ask wait 2 about clonidine what is it for? Is for bp but what would it do for us?, and also I wanted to tell vikeaddict that not to stress to much about how much you are taking of the sub right now you need to just get tru, I was just like you I wanted to just jump in and out I'been on it for 20 day just about 3 weeks and the first 2 weeks I just wanted to stop I started with the 2mg tab the doctor that gave them to me did not explain nothing to me and by me reading all the post here I know that I didn't want to get addicted so last friday I was just taking 1/2 of a 2mg tab well that did go well so on friday night I decided that I needed to regroup my self and get well first then  cut down so I fired my doctor and found another doctor las saturday I started back on 2 2mg tabs a day and I was still not feeling good so I went to my other doctor when he put me on 2 2mg tabs 2 times a day I started that today and I felt great all day, so I guess you just need to try and see what is best for you right now then slowly cut down.
good luck WE CAN DO THIS!!

or try just 1/2 of a tablet?  wait an hour and see how you feel, if your still not better, try the other half...but if your really feeling ok...then i would wait it out...
yes the first 5-7 days are the hardest, and when the hydro is all out of your system, you should be able to taper down to a more comfortable and affordable dose...
i started out at 32 mgs of sub, transitioned from methadone, i took 32 mgs for about 6 weeks (it will not be this long for you) i then tapered down to 10 mgs...but went back up to 16 mgs to try to combat some pain issues..i am back at 10 mgs now...

Ok i have advil i will try that. The Dr told me to try an avoid the soma (muscle relaxer) if possible. Just put a heating pad on the back of my neck. I didnt know if i took another sub if it would make me sick or should i just try and ride the night out and see how i feel tomorrow.
It takes about 5-7 days to get all the vikes out of my system you think and then i could taper down on the sub?

the headache is a normal side effect of suboxone...you can take advil or tylenol, advil seems to work better for me.
if you feel fine at 2, 8 mg tabs, then no need to take anymore, you might find you may need more the first few days, and once your drug of choice has left your system you will need less...so in 5-7 days you can taper down some...
dont take anything else with this unless advised to do so by your doctor...you dont know if there will be side effects or not...it would be safer for you to take another sub before anything else you mentioned...like i said  sometime more is needed the first few days...
why are you asking about other meds?  are you still sick? if your having any sleep issues or anxiety problems? ask your sub doctor about clonidine (NOT klonopin)...this worked wonders for me...but follow doctors directions on it closely.
if you have any questions let me know, i may be able to help some...
