A liver question????

Does anyone know the facts about your liver and how the toxins work through? Does it recover in days or weeks or years?  Im the guys with kidney stones and have been taking loritab for a couple years. I, like many have needed the drug but have abused it. Ive gone from 10 a day to 2 a day and Im wondering about my liver...................Do the raised toxin levels stay a long time or is it short term? Thanks.....................( by the way that has been my screen name for years before my addiction.................... BOY it sure doesnt fit here LOL )......

this is a shot in the dark, however, i feel an accurate one...

your sn, it is still who you are. just let that voice speak of reason once more. it is most likely still with you. as for the liver. if you are fine now, there isn't really anything you should worry about. i can't answer your question but milk thistle can help.

I know the dr. told my father he had a bad liver and told him to stop drinking.  He didn't stop except for the day before he was due to go back to the dr.  The doctor got the test results back and told my dad "see, I told you if you stopped drinking, your liver would get better".  My dad tells this story a lot.  However, I think if your liver is too far gone, it won't get better.

I do know the liver is pretty tough and can heal itself quickly in most cases and a simple blood test can tell you if the levels are raised. I have had Hep C probable since the 70's but not found out until the early 90's. All my level's were high with a high virus count (load) on my liver when i was ponding opiates, mostly lortab for 13 yrs or so and was a heavy drug user or drinker for 38 yrs. Each time i was tested with a large amount of opiate in my system, my counts were high, but if i was off the opiates for a short time my levels would return normal, although my Hep C virus count remained high but that is a separate thing. For peace of mind i would get a blood test to know for sure
