I have a question.  After my last post, entitled "Speed," wherein I said something to the effect that Amphetamines are THE DEVIL and should be avoided, and then madame dyblue joined the thread, turning the discussion onto a very interesting and troubling topic, that of children being prescribed amphetamines and ritalin for vaguely defined mental "maladies," basically akin to perfectly natural hyperactiveness and excitedness, which I think is a tragedy.  It made me think:

How does this happen?  How can children be subject to such things?  Should not these doctors and company executives be assembled in a big pit and shot?  (That's a little extreme, I know, but seriously, forks...)

And now I ask, how does one go about setting up an anti-amphetamine-prescription-for-minors-group?  I'd have to think of a catchier name, of course.  Are there already such groups?  Any thoughts?

Gosh, thanks marcatj, for such a warm welcome.  You guys are pretty tight here on the Subs. Abuse Forum, eh?  I like it.  Very civilized.  Unlike some of the other forums at MedHelp.

Thank you for your opinion.  I'm going to think about this, for I too cannot make any sense any more.  That thread took the life out of me.  I'll get back to this tomorrow, but thanks for your opinion!  There are some on the other thread, "Speed," who agree that sometimes it's OK, so you're not alone!  I'm just trying to get a good perspective.

I didn't read all of that thread, because I can't concentrate for that long. But...
Parents I've know who've turned to this have been at their very wits end to help their kids suceed in the competitive world.  They are ususally smart kids that are getting left behind d/t severe emotional problems.  The ADHD drugs are usually part of a coctail that includes antidepressents.  The kids also often have OCD.
There is a legit place for this.
