I was on Ativan for long time because my heart rate was elevated and pounding almost constantly for a month. I thought I was going to on it forever. But I tapered off of it and now only use the clonidine. You could take the ativan when you anticipate this happening during the day, and then take one for sleep at tnight.
I know but panic attacks sometimes require some meds to keep yourself together in a very busy household........
No,not yet. She's out of bed for the first time since I posted and she's only up because she gets her meds today.I'll try to get her to read them once the meds get in her system. Thanks for asking. As far as the Ativan goes I know it's for anxiety attacks, but can I just take it at bedtime or is my body going to want it during the day after awhile also, that's what I want to avoid, being dependent on another Drug.
to change the subject a bit.......
did your wife happen to read any of the posts from the other day?
I would just take 1/2 of what you are use to taking and then just by listening to your body, cut it in half again. The benzos are easily addicting. When I got pregnanct I was taking 2-3 mg a day, so actually, I decreased by .5 mg every few days, it took me 3 weeks and the last week all I had to take was .25mg every other day for 3 days. I imagine everyone is different, a lot of people say how bad it is to get off, but I didn't think it was worse than opiates. Just be careful and listen to your body. Try some breathing exercises.
What is Ativan?
Ativan is in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peens). Ativan affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.
Ativan is used to treat anxiety disorders.
You should be good with this med for your panic attacks
