Addicted to Nurofen plus

I am addicted to otc Nurofen plus and have been since January. I managed to go cold turkey a couple of weeks ago but it only lasted a week. I take about 16 a day and so much want to stop but i just don't know how to. They are ruining my life. One desperate mum!!

Hi girl,
Yes Percocet is a painkiller but it's a lot stronger than Nurofen but an addiction is an addiction or an addict is an addict.
I think you can do this.  Either taper or go cold turkey.  Cold turkey, the physical part will probably be over in 3 days and not sure about the mental part.  I am still working on that part myself.

Hi, yes i am from the UK and thank you for replying! I first started on co-codamol from the doctor for severe headaches and in doing so found that when i was tired if i took a painkiller it would put the tiredness away. So when the headaches finally stopped i then started to buy N+. You see i have an underactive thyroide and the tiredness is a killer when you have 3 boys to look after and your husband works month at a time. This is how i have ended up addicted to them and the reason i sarted taking again was to put the tiredness away. I am at my wits end and just don't know what to do! I read Percocet is also a painkiller, is it just like N+? Hope you are still managing well!

I've kicked a 30 pill a day nurofen plus habit recently in May, I can really feel your pain.

Cold turkey works for some, but I did a taper, slowly it took me about 5-6 weeks to go from 30 down to 0, it is hard and its best to be prepared.

Prepare yourself most likely similar to how you did with the tramdol.

I had an addiction to Tramdol and found myself after being clean from that I started taking nurofen plus for an back issue and before I knew it a few months that I was take 20 a day and then 30 a day.. It's cross addiction.

Hi and sorry your post seemed to be missed.  I don't think many are familiar with Nurofen.  Are you from the U.K.?  
Anyway, I googled it and read that it contains quite a bit of codeine which is addictive as you know.
I am battling with percocet right now.  I have gone cold turkey and lasted ten days but I have reduced my intake to a couple every few days or even less than that.  I want to be off them badly too.
It is hard to do but so many people on this forum have done it and are very happy that they have.  
What made you start taking them again?
