Additional info re: Xanax taper

I go to a methadone clinic and they allow the Xanax as long as I have a script. I am an opiate addict(10 years) trying to eventually be clean of all chemicals, however I must do it slow(i have a full time job i must do) and I go to outpt. therapy 2x weekly. I'm giving my self a year and then slowly gonna detox of the methadone. Thanks for any info you can offer.

I read your other thread and now this one; I'm not sure what you're asking here. Do you want our advice on how to taper off Xanax? Just need some support?

There are many helpful members so just be a little clearer and we'll try to help.

the xanex has to be tapered also get with your prescribing doctor and work out a plan it would be best to do each on there own rather then both at the same time depending on how much xenex your taking it can take a wile to get off I was on 4mg and it took almost a yr and it was uncomfortable to say the least
methadone was a 8 1/2 mo grind down from 150mg but its doable if you put your mind to it you got to want it bad in both cases when your ready will walk you threw it good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

Yes I went to my primary doc yesterday and he told me that since I just started the Wellbutrin, that we weren't gonna change anything right now. He also stated that I have been on Xanax for almost 3 years on the same small dose and taking it with the Methadone will not kill me, and Wellbutrin won't throw me into seizure activity and I won't grow a third arm or eyeball. But what will increase my chances of all those things happening is continuing to to read other peoples experience on the Internet and drug forums ie..the guy that spent 7 days in icu from mixing Xanax and methadone...he probably took 200mgs of methadone and then a "friend" sold him some Xanax "bars"........and yeah, i saw my doctors point by then and so now my doc wants to see me every 2 weeks to help cure my new diagnoses of Internet hypochondria.  Lol.. I'd bet that dx is in the DSM III!  Anyway, doc had the receptionist give me back my co-pay and sent me on my way. Support forums a helpful for some people, but as for me I'll stick to the support I get from humans face to face and not on a typed screen. Thank you guys for responding to my post and good luck to you all in your recovery and life journey.
