Alcohol Withdrawal

Hi. My father is now forced to quit drinking after drinking VERY heavily for over a year.....He had on average 1 and a half to 2 large bottles of vodka per day.....Anyway....My question here is....He has just stopped completely and is now shaking like crazy and says he feel slike he might have a seizure. He is very confused, etc.....But he WON'T go to the hospital. DEFINITELY won't. What foods or drinks can he have that will bring him to a quick recovery ? Please help :(

tell him they will give him something to take away the pain.  thats the best way i can think of to get an addict to go anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He needs to go to the hospital.... He could die... This is not funny.. This is your father... He is incappable of making rational decisions right now.. You need to make them for him.. Alcoholics can hallucinate during withdrawls and seizures are a very high risk..
Please call the ER...

Hello and welcome.If he totally refuses to go to a hospital or detox center i would see if you can find some benzos like ativan.[spelling].
  Alcohol withdrawal can be life threatening.Keep fluids in him like gatoraid.and ensure if he can't eat.He needs to be under a doctors care.He may get a ride to the hospital any way if it gets too bad.
  Keep a close eye on him.if he goes into d/t's he will not know what he is doing and violence is often involved.Be careful!God Bless.
