Am I killing myself slowly?

After years of drug abuse, starting with the party drugs when I was younger, and then getting into the perscription drugs, I am starting to scare myself.  I took steroids for roughly 5? 6? years while bodybuilding, compunded with vicodon or nubain to get me through intense workouts during that time.  All along the pain killers were masking the damage I was doing.  4 years after stopping lifting, I have had discs removed from my neck and lower back, and have several left that are bad enough to cause severe pain.  My insides feel like they are in knots, I feel so dehydrated and parinoid that I have damaged myself beyond repair.  I have tried to come off the vicodon now several times, and use celebrex (useless) or methadone to no avail.  I feel like I'm 300 years old without pain meds.  I wory about my kidneys and liver almost to the point of parinoia sometimes.  I want to quit, but the pain is terrible.  Any advice?

Hi Rob.  To be honest with you, if you are in pain then you obviously have a medical condition.  I've taken vicodin for 5-6 years everyday.  Any doctor will tell you, The drug is VERY addictive but if you take it AS prescribed it won't physically hurt you other than becoming extremely addicted.  Vicodin is actually a very good pain med for people that have chronic pain. As far as Steriods, I have never been involved in that but I can tell you if you want to get off the vicodin, talk to a doctor about a medicine that can help you get through the withdrawls.  How long hav you been taking the Vicodin?   Hang in there and I hope you feel better soon

hey there , my name is michael and im an addict, ive been off the vikes for 4 monts now thanks to the folks here at this fourm.
your post sounds like mine 4 months ago.
im 42 and was clean from age 24 to37 then i had a couple of rotator cuff operations and i was on the vikes for about
2 years  prescribed by my doctor i did good 4 a day  for those 1st 2 years then my mother in law and brother died the pain for some reason caused me to cross a line with the vikes , i started to take 10 or 12 a day, then the doc stopped giving them to me.
i was not in pain any more but i kept useing ,was getting them from someone at work the last year started to do as many as 20 a day. started to really get scared and the pill's were sucking the life right out of me.
i found this fourm by luck, and was turned onto this vitamine
mix , calle thomas's RECEIPE ,well i jumped right on it and started to take the receipeand to my suprise it really really
helped me get through the withdrawls rather easly compared to my 5  or 6 times trying in the last year by myself.
my biggest problem was everytime i tried the severe depression and the severe ;lack of energy was just too much for me too handle, so i kept going back.
and like you i woke up everyday and felt like i was 70 years old
limping to the bathroom in the morning.

the recreipe changed all that , it took the depression away and made the lack of energy some thing i could deal with.

you might want to try it

That is my problem as well.  Everytime I say "ok, enough is enough... I'm taking no more meds"  The day I wake up and I feel like complete ****!  I ache, I feel like I have the damn flu.  Come around noon I feel like I'm going to explode if I dont take a vicodin.  I start hunting for excuses to go to the doctor to get more, then I'm back to where I started from.  I even get that feeling as I'm getting the script filled of being happy again... EVEN BEFORE I physically take the meds again.  God, what is wrong with me?   I'm like  most of you, I found this forum by accident and  just the past 2 nights it's helped me so much, just by reading the posts even.  I just don't really no where to go for help or what KIND of help to get.

By the way....  WAY TO GO to you for being clean.  Thats awesome!!
