Am I tapering or not bad detox

Hi guys..u remember me, the idiot that is hooked on oxy's while pregnant.  I decided to stop and talked to both dr's (ob and reg dr)  both said to taper...so I started on Wednesday, using the 10 oxy's rather than the 5 40's as usual...I used the tens til yesterday (fri) am and took the last one about 10 am.  Then used Viks 5mg last night and today...I've taken 4 vikes today and a swig of tussinex and it's 2pm....I would think I would be worse off than this after such a drastic stop of oxy's and now just viks...Ive been a lil anxious but thats it.  what do u guys think?  I probably wont have anything tomorrow and have a sub appt on Mon.  Maybe I wont need it and got off a bit easy?  Or Im just kidding myself.

I was clean for two months into my pregnancy but due to medical conditions i was put on the meds.  I applaud you for your no nonsence attitude for you, but dont judge when you don't know the details and the details were posted in other posts.

As a recovering user with four children, I can't fathom for the life of me why anyone would use anything during their pregnancy. The second that second line appeared on the stick, I dropped my habits, whether a bundle a day or a couple oxy 40's. No matter the discomfort of withdrawal or diffulty of non-use, the only reasonable solution is to suck it up, quit cold turkey and think only of your baby...the one that has the chance to be born perfectly healthy if you stop now, not tomorrow. Good luck.

I really hope you do not have to go on Subutex.  I read a lot of info online about detoxing on Sub and there are not many studies but the ones there are show that 20%of babies born on 24mg or more have to have meds to detox while the remaining 80% detoxed without meds.  Still I do not like the odds and would not like to take the chance.  I am JUST going into my second trimester and am concerned that I am doing this too soon as the baby will be stronger in my third trimester.  I have an ob appt on Tuesday and am asking my doc if he can admit me and detox and monitor me and baby.  Dont know the answer yet.  Sub is a difficult detox so if you do not need it, dont take it just cause others say you should.  If you feel ok, stay off everything as that is the point I am hoping to be at.   Best of luck and health to you and your baby.

I am 7 mths preggers and still doing ok...my goal is to stop everything and so far have done really well,  havent taken anything since the swig of tuss at 8a or so,  For whoever asked it's liquid hydro cough med.  I used to love it and it was the best high,, but now it kinda makes me feel crappy.  I will probably not keep appt with sub dr.  If I am doing this well now than I don;t need it.  I really wouldnt think I would go into severe w/d after stopping a small amount of tuss after tapering to that from as much oxy I was doing til last wed.  Still wondering what the hell happened? Maybe it is the pregnancy,,,This baby could literally save my life,  Oh ya.,,Im not too worried about wht will happen in birth,  If I need them, so be it,  I don't feel the need to be a hero and wont suffer...but if needed after discharge, than I will have hubby hold them and Ive already talked to him about that,.  Just keeping my fingers crossed that this is it,,,,

You are pregnant...there is n ever a time in a woman's life when Female hormones do a better job!  this has naturally been in place since the dawn of time.  You feel ok because your hormones will work overtime to make sure you are ok to protect that baby.  Ask your OBGYN about the Sub.  They might just want to keep you on a low dose of hydro.  How pregnant are you???

yup, plus hydros have  a half - life so w/d's are under control.  that's what your doctors want--you pregnant and balanced..not in withdrawal.  Stay even and do what they tell you, you will probably have pain meds @labor and delivery so hydros match fine.  They are also weaker than oxys which keep you safer if pain meds are needed.  Don't worry about stigmas and judgemental people ( including our strongest critic-ourselves) Remember the placenta is a miraculous filter but your heart rate BP and stress hormones are immediately shared.  Everyone wants you healthy, balanced and calm.  As long as you are not craving and/or overusing, you can easily clean out after delivery and because it is such a change for your body it will be so much less noticable and you will be clean!  I had a c-section that went very badly and I almost died in childbirth...I was VERY concerned about the narcotics and my baby but was educated properly and re-assured.  They even totally supported my breast-feeding.  My son, now 6, is a happy healthy, smart, and well adjusted child and we were both pumped FULL of ****! You are doing great!!! You both will be just fine.

Thanks for your replies.  I am doing pretty well considering.  I took my last dose of 2 viks and a small swig ot tuss at at 2 yest...felt not bad all day and through night.  a little restless and sweaty all night, but not so unusual since I am 7 mnths preggers.  felt a little stomach uneasiness this am, took my vitamins and imodium...had some breakfast and a small dose of tuss...I'm thinking I may get off this w/o much trouble (physically).  When I have dtx before from lots of viks...I didn't have it that bad either..Could I be some weird case that I dont end up going thru all the symptoms?  I would think going down to a swig (tuss) today after 140 mg oxy a day last tuesday would bring on much more.  Hmmm Deep thoughts~

The hydro is filling up your opiate receptors that's why you are not having much along the way of WD. I would listen to the doctors and do a slow taper they suggest that because its not as much stress on the baby.I know you want to get right off for your baby and that is wonderful but it can stress out the baby. You have already started the hydro so I would slowly taper down from that .good luck

I would stay clean since you are so close . Why get more drugs to wd from. I heard sub is hard to wd from too. Your baby needs you and so do you.  Be strong you can make it. Cancel the appt. Come here instead we will all help you get thru this in a healthy way for both of you.

I wish I could tell you for sure, but I suspect you are still processing the stored opiate in your body.  But hay, maybe you and baby will be blessed and you won't need the sub and you will spend the rest of the pregnancy in a glorious rainbow of light.
Keep checking in and if it hits harder, reach out to us here-ok?
