Good to see you on the forum. Have you had a chance to look at some of the past posts on Opiate withdrawal? You will find a ton of info about what to expect, and ways to relieve the symptoms.
It will get better, but it will be a rough road for about a week. Time is ultimately the best healer.
But again, there are some very good info on the site.
Please keep posting, and if you have any specific questions, ask away! Congrats to you for coming this far!
You've come to the right place. Lots of experience & support here. Yes, what your feeling is totally normal...your beginning to experience withdrawal. You didn't say how many, or how long you've been using the pills. The severity of withdrawal goes along with how much/how long you were using. Usually, the more time, and the higher dose used, the longer, more severe the withdrawal. Your brain is used to the opiates to artificially produce the euphoric/can do anything feeling. When that is removed, the brain needs to start making it's own endorphins again, hence all the physical/mental w/d symptoms. This takes time.
Since your out of meds, looks like your going cold-turkey, as opposed to a slow taper. It's not going to be easy, or fun, but it is doable! Many of us here have done it, and are much healthier clean. Expect to feel like ****, like having a severe case of the flu for about a week, with worse being the first 3-4 days. Stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, trouble sleeping, body aches, sweats, no energy. There are a number of meds that ease withdrawal; Clonidine (a bloodpressure med, non-addicting) helps alot, Phenegran (in the anti-histimine class, for nausea and sleep, non-addicting), Immodium for the squirts, Ibuprophen & lots of hot baths for the aches. Water/Gatorade to prevent dehydration, and bland foods (bananas, crackers, etc) Also see the bottom right of the page, under Most Viewed Health Pages for the Thomas Recipe (some here swear by it), and other great information. Hope this helps, and keep posting. :)
Hi welcome. You will be supprised how soon you will feel better. It sure is hard the first few days. But it gets better. You never have to do the first day again!
the sooner you get some exercise the better. even if you can start with short walks. exercise helps the brain to produce endorphins and thats what affects how you feel. good luck and keep hanging out here.]
