Don't be scared to talk to your dr. You found out and tried fixing the situation. Your not trying to use while your pregnant so I don't see why they would get anyone involved. Just do meetings and stay in the right path for your baby. And you need to talk to your ob because the detox is rough on the baby. More so than yourself.

These situations are always so difficult.  First, I want to say congrats on your pregnancy, and even a bigger congrats on making the decision to get off the pills.  That shows already that your intent is to put baby first, and that's a wonderful thing.

My first concern is that you quit cold turkey.  Honey, that is never recommended during pregnancy.  Of course, it partially depends on how much you were taking.  Typically, weaning is the best thing, and then only under close medical supervision.

I am going under the assumption that this was not a prescription medication for you, and that this was an abuse/addiction situation?  So, my next concern is for your and your babies long term well being.  I am going to ask you to reread what you have written in your post above.  Your concern is with dss finding out as opposed to how this may impact your long term well being.  Please do not take that as judgement...it is absolutely not.  Trust me, I am the last person to judge anyone.  Addiction is a powerful thing, and without proper care and a long term plan to stay clean, it can be exceedingly difficult to stay off of them after birth. And as much as a baby being addicted is a very negative situation, it is no better to have a baby growing up with a mother who is still using.  Know what I mean?

I cannot say whether your child's meaconeum will test positive or not with you quitting at this stage.  And honestly, that is not that important. Sometimes having dss involved is a positive thing, as their primary focus is a safe and healthy environment for your child.  Their goal is not to seperate families if they don't have to.  I know many a family where dss involvement has helped motivate parents to stay off the drugs knowing someone was checking.

Anyway, I guess what I am saying is that I fully commend you for what you are trying to do here.  However, I am encouraging you to seek a different path in getting there.  The best thing to do would truly to talk to your Dr.  They can help you access resources to help you get on the long term path of sobriety, and that is the absolute best thing you could do for your family.  Also, given that you have recently found out you were pregnant, and are that far along while using, your Dr. may choose additional testing or monitoring to ensure that all is well.  I'm sure it will be, but again, talking to your Dr. is the best thing for your child.

I wish you well.  You can do this.  And I do hope you consider what I have said here.  It's important.  Take good care, and congrats again.
