Anxiety and Suboxone?

Anxiety and Suboxone?

Is there anything that i can ask my pain doc for to take for anxiety after stoping 15-20 perc 10s a day.  He has me on 1 8mg/2mg suboxone every 12 hrs.  I am doing really well with the pain and withdrawls except for the severe anxiety spells about 4-5 times a day and more frequent at night.  Have no real tolerance to benzos and never really had a problem with them addiction wise just pain killers and my doc knows this. Can anything be perscribed along with suboxone for anxiety or will my doc more than likely say thats a no no and to deal with it.

i think it's best when those of us who have decided to go the suboxone route get help with these symptoms from the same doc who is prescribing the sub. that way he/she can monitor the symptoms and give something that won't cause a bad reaction. most of the benzos are listed as not to be taken while on sub. i was having those anxiety spells for the first 4 or 5 days, but they passed. also, if you do the benzos that they say not to, someone else may try it and have a bad reaction. we really need to be responsible with the advice given on here. i wish you success with whatever you do try. prayers also. peace, sway

I think that your doc will probably tell you that benzos are not a good idea.  Cross addiction happens a lot, and there is no need in adding to the problem you have.  And with benzos, there is not a drug like sub to go on to get off of them.  You just have to do a long taper!  I would not recommend a benzo, but you can ask your doctor for some advice on something non habit forming,

Good luck!!!

Benzos are contra indicated with buprenorphine. Th few people that have overdosed with Suboxone have taken benzos as well. That being said, some doctors will prescribe it with Suboxone. Is it a good idea? Probably not. The mainline defense against anxiety is an antidepressant, not benzos.
