Thank you! Im def going to call my Dr. first but im glad to know that if I have any withdrawls from them, they will be nothing like norcos! Ive already started exercising again which really helps me relax more than anything, but havent tried the sleepytime tea. So I will give that a shot for sure! I dont drink so im not worried about that :)
Thanks again!! and yes it does mess with ur memory and makes you do wierd things! WOW!
Thank you for the info. I definitely think I should give my Dr. a call before I stop then. I was wanting to try and stop in a couple of days to really detoxify but I will wait first I think!
Hey Teresa, Yes, I have been on and off ambien for years and even abused them during my vic detox (bad idea btw). Having said that, with the recommended dose prescribed, I was always able to stop no problem, except it would take me 3 nights until my sleep returned. For me anyway, it was nothing like coming off of hydro's or benzo's. I will say though, it does mess with your memory and makes ya do crazy stuff and not remember any of it. Hope this helps. What does help is exercise mid day (not close to bedtime) and sleepytime tea, also avoiding alcohol. Good luck!

Zolpidem should normally be taken for short periods of time. If you take zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer, zolpidem may not help you sleep as well as it did when you first began to take the medication. If you take zolpidem for a long time, you also may develop dependence ('addiction,' a need to continue taking the medication) on zolpidem. Talk to your doctor about the risks of taking zolpidem for 2 weeks or longer. Do not take a larger dose of zolpidem, take it more often, or take it for a longer time than prescribed by your doctor.
Do not stop taking zolpidem without talking to your doctor, especially if you have taken it for longer than 2 weeks. If you suddenly stop taking zolpidem, you may develop unpleasant feelings or mood changes or you may experience other withdrawal symptoms such as shakiness, lightheadedness, stomach and muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, sweating, flushing, tiredness, uncontrollable crying, nervousness, panic attack, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, uncontrollable shaking of a part of your body, and rarely, seizures.
You may have more difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep on the first night after you stop taking zolpidem than you did before you started taking the medication. This is normal and usually gets better without treatment after one or two nights.
Thanks Nighthawk! I will check those threads out. IBKLeen, thank you too for your advice. They do some crazy stuff to me too! I tend to carry in conversations and dont remember a word of it the next day! haha
Anyways, Im just scared of it setting me backwards in anyway because I am determined to do thise this time! I will def check out other forums but also if anyone else can answer the questions I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
Oh and Go Packers!! Glad to see a fellow cheese head amongst these forums :)
If you have only been on them for 3 months probably the most you will feel is a few nights without sleep. Your brain has been re-programmed (by way of the Ambien) to go into sleep mode so it may take a few nights of waking up and not sleeping through but I think it is manageable. Better to do it now then to wait any longer.
That stuff made me crazier than a loon. I didn't sleep from it. I got up in the middle of the night and cooked full dinners without remembering. Just what I needed--spaghetti and meatballs at 3 am.
Anyway, I am not sure there is a way to taper from them but you can check with your prescribing physician.
And oh yeah---GO GREEN BAY!!!
Sorry Teresa don't know much about ambien, but wanted to give a shout out and say Congrats on Norco withdrawal DAY 5 yeah!~
Always remember you can read other posts about ambien by typing in Ambien in Search the Community GO button at the top of the forum, lots of answers there......
Hope this helps........Liz
