Anyone using LDN for getting off sub?

by hawaiimed, Feb 05, 2009 02:27PM
I have been tapering to .5 to .75 mg a day of suboxone for about 3 months and have posted before about feeling stuck.
Just recently read a story of how LOW DOSE NALTREXONE (3mg a day) can help stimulated endorphin production.
For Addicts, getting off opiates, the endorphin receptor/production is a problem, resulting in the "blahs"; feeling crappy.

This could be a breakthrough.

Never heard of it, but if it does indeed stimulate endorphin production then in theory it should definitley help. Glad to hear something new! If it works, then it'll come in very handy whenever I fully detox off of methadone. I'll be researching it. Hope it's true! Peace.

I used Naltrexone, only problem is you have to be fully clean before you can start it. You have to be clean almost 10 full days of all opiates before you can have it. Its a stopng med and once it is taken, it removes any remaining opiates still attached to receptors..it definitely doesn't just turn back the clock, you still need to wait it out and let time heal everything, but it can work. Its also used to block any further opiates from being ingested.

Ive never taken naltrexone but I was told by my doctor that I had to be completely clean of sub for 2 wks before I started it. Basicly for me after about 10 days without suboxone the worst of the physical w/d's were over. From there on out it was almost completely mental, main problem being sleep, depression and anxiety issues. But I was never told about its ability to stimulate endorphins just that it would block any opiates I may try and use. Ive been off sub since Oct.20 and it took awhile before I really started to feel normal again, but life without the daily stress of pills is priceless. I got down to probably .25mgs sub/daily(maybe even less) when I quit, I never went to the every other day, then 3rd day and so on. Anyways I wish you the best of luck, if you do try it let us know how it works for you. If you dont end up trying it, dont worry your brain will heal itself, it ***** but time really does heal all wounds. Take Care!
