Opiate Withdrawal: Question on head burning. Day 5

Hello all, most of my body physicals have passed but my head has felt like it's still throbbing on fire - very uncomfortable. I don't recall experiencing this in the past - it faded when my body physicals did (but I'm quite older now.)

Here's what I'm worried about.

During the initial withdraws, I took two Xanax pills, extended release (0.5 mg) and they helped.

I didn't use them for two days after that.

tonight, with the head burning, I took one last 0.5 mg xanax pill and to my surprise the head burning is gone.

Could the head burning be from the withdrawal of two xanax pills? That seems absurd to me; but the fact that two days later taking one single one cured most of my head pains, makes me wonder.

Or is it just helping mask the opiate withdrawals?

I think I know what you're talking about.

I took xanax for way too long (12 years - REALLY BAD I know) - and I found even in between refills (because I always took more than I was supposed to) but it was like my head was on fire AND sweating really bad - it awful!!!

And after I quit for good (over one year now YAY!) it's gone for the most part.  But yes, I definitely think it has something to do w/this drug - or maybe just benzo's in general?

I'm sure other members here will offer their experiences too - good luck to you and congrats for quitting!  :)

Thanks, yeah I can't imagine two xanax pills taken over two days could cause withdrawals... I mean, I haven't used Xanax in 5-6 years, and never abused it.

I was just surprised how well taking one got rid of the headaches.

I doubt you'd be addicted to the Xanax after such a short time of using it but who knows?  Maybe someone with more experience with Xanax will have more ideas on that.

One thing I'm thinking is maybe you're not drinking enough??  Are you still taking plenty of fluids?  Easy to get dehydrated during withdrawals.  Maybe try increasing your fluid intake and see if that helps.
