Benedryl and WD?

Ok, I have a new question. I'm 17 days out... I know Tram told me that Benedryl makes W/D symptoms worse at first. I have had such a hard time sleeping the past few nights. Since I'm 17 days out and most of my symptoms are gone, would I still have a hard time taking the benedryl tonight?

I agree - naps are BAD.  At least they were for me.  I'd actually wake up angry they were that bad.  Better to save that sleep for the night.  :)

I'm surprised your sleeping hasn't improved.  If the benedryl is was making it worse I wouldn't continue to take it? But that's just me I hate RLS so much I'll avoid it however I can. Do not nap! That also helps like huge!

Have you tried the OTC Alteril?  Some have said that it helps with sleep.  I hope you do better tonight!  Fingers crossed for you.

I agree - benadryl - nyquil - 5htp or "energy" drinks can mess you up.  Be careful with them - maybe a b12 sublingual tablet would be better?  Lack of energy is definitely one of those lingering symptoms... it's normal.

I would say take ONE.  Not two though!  That way if it does make you have ill effects, it won't be as bad as having two in you!  I don't have trouble with benadryl now as long as I don't take two.  It's mainly that first week or ten days where the WDs and RLS is the worst that you shouldn't take them!

I know that energy drinks would make me panic up until about day 14.Now it is no problem to drink one.

i have never had a problem with benedryl, i take diphenhydramine before bed every night and have while withdrawing and never noticed it made anything worse.. seems like its the only thing that helps me sleep at night. i think its different for everyone.

Hi, dear daughter, it's one of your moms! You're not sleeping well because you aren't feeling well. After you see the dentist and feel better, you will sleep well again. If you know that Benadryl relaxes and soothes you rather than wires you, I'd say you could probably take one. I'd take two Tylenol as well. Hang in there, your mamas are watching over you!

I take Melatonin right now and drink sleepytime tea. but those aren't working for me right now. :/ I was sleeping so good and all the sudden, here I go again! Benedryl normally relaxes me enough I can fall asleep.... I just dont want it to make withdrawals start back up. ya know?

Hi,
Benedryl seems to be one of those meds that work different for everyone.  I agree in that it made my withdrawals worse.  I've taken it and have been wired from it and unable to sleep, both when I've been in withdrawals and not.  What about Melatonin, have you tried it?  I've tried it along with Valerian Root, or KavaKava and had success with both combinations.
Hope you get some sleep :)
