Prozac is pretty heavy duty when it comes to ADs. Everyone I know who has taken it has only been on it for maybe 3-6 mos to stabilize then switched too donething else that isn't so strong. They were usually tapered then switched over.

Those are not a Addicting drug. I had a DR tell me the other day that all people who have a Addiction issues should be on one..They never mentioned the natural things you can take. I never had that one but I have tried about 6 other ones since I got clean..Always some kind of side affect for me. There is one that I can take that will not do that, but I try to do all natural.
I think I have read on here, just like any man made med, that it would still have to be tapered if they want off. These meds are out here and so so so many different ones. Most hit the Serotonin that is why it is a SRI which is a Serotonin reuptake inhibitor. There are some that hit many different areas of them chems in the brain. Wellbutrin is a norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitor.
When we use for a long time our Receptors get plugged/full or even damaged so we are unable to make Serotonin. This is why the Drs push it on people who come off of opiates or such.
This med should be OK but it does take about 4-8 weeks for them to kick in the right way. If this one does not work have them try something different.
Wishing you the best and I am SO glad you are not a Addict. How are you doing coming off those meds anyway???
Bless
