However , he has a tendency to binge on them , not every all the time but lotd of the tiem, after he comes down from binging hes been having seizures, about 3 to 4 days after the binging process. My question is can while coming down from the binging bring on seizures. Other than binging on xanex, hes a good man great husband and father, good hearted, helps anyone in need. I just can't understand or know how to get through to him. I need answers. Ive even thought about telling his Doctor about the binging, I'll do anyting to  help him. Plz someone give me an answer as to wheather or not coming down off the high he gets on will cause seizures. thank you in advanve for any advice.

Hi Duck,
I am a longterm Xanax user--26 years.  so I guess you could kind of call me an expert on this drug.  Seizures happen with withdrawal from Xanax.  So your husband must be taking large amounts (bingeing, as you say), and then suddenly stopping for a long enough time to cause his body to go into withdrawal, causing the seizures.  This is a VERY serious issue--one that is life-threatening.  Please speak with your husband about this and explain how deadly it is, and convince him to make an immediate appointment with the doctor who is prescribing the Xanax.  Be HONEST with the doctor.  He must be put on a VERY SLOW taper process.  Most likely a crossover to a longer lasting benzo like Valium and then begin the taper.   But it must be done AT ONCE!!  If your husband refuses, you may have to have an intervention.   Good luck to you and please keep us posted!

He only binges but doesn't take them everyday? After a habit like that, he would have seizures.

Duck-You need to have a serious talk with him. This is so dangerous to do. He could die.  And seizures can do some damage. Let him know how serious this is and that he needs the doctor to help him taper off!

You say that the seizures occur 3-4 days after he binges. It sounds like his binges are leaving him dangerously short of pills. If he doesnt regularly take his prescibed dose he could go into withdrawals and have seizures. Coming down shouldnt cause seizures but withdrawals definitely will.

What hubby is doing is very dangerous and I am not at all surprised that he is having seizures. He is in trouble if he is bingeing on them and will need help from his doctor to get off them. He will need to taper his dose under his doctor's care.

Certainly it is your choice to talk with his doctor but be prepared for the consequences if you go behind your husband's back. I don't recommend it. If anything, try and talk with him before you do anything. See if he will admit that he has a problem.

I hope he gets the help he needs. I'll say a prayer for you both.
