Books? Reading? Distractions

I just wrote about this in a response in another thread but in case it gets buried and not seen by many I want to retype about it here too because Im very curious if anyone else does this too.

Are you a reader, and if so what do you like to read? I am an avid reader and prefer the horror genre (some of my favorites are STephen King, Dean Koontz, Richard Laymon, John Saul, Ray Bradbury, Robert McCammon, and for light/fluff reading VC andrews books). I have wall to wall bookshelves in more than half the house, full of books of all types!

I was just mentioning in my other post, instead of going outside to smoke a cig, I sit down and take a break from the kids and housework and read about 10 pages or so for a nice mentally invigorating break, and it distracts me from my addictions so far..

Just wondered if anyone else does this. and also if you are a reader, if you want to recommend any good books.

I also love reading!!! If your into history & wars (which I am:), Beyond Band of Brothers is a must read!!
Anything from Nicholas Sparks is Wonderful!! Especially "Dear John".
"Bury my heart at wounded knee" is eye-opening and heartwrenching.

I don't exactly know why but as I have gotten older, I have grown increasingly fond and interested in history, wars, especially with the WWII and the Civil War. And also the Indian way of life. My Hubby had me read Bury my heart at wounded knee, and when he would come home in the evenings I would be up on the couch bawling with the book in my hand. He would ask what was wrong...and all I could studder out was...this stuff..that..they did..sniff sniff...to the indians..sniff sniff. Lololo:) It is very sad, but a VERY good history lesson that most people are never taught in school.

I absolutely love to read! I love mostly memoirs and other books about issues similiar but not limited to mine. I also went back to school, so I've been reading a lot of textbooks. but school has been helping me keep my mind off my cravings.

"A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey......it's a must read
