levels ... pain meds/pain management

I am a stage 4 lung cancer patient.  I am presently prescribed oxycodone 20 mg 4 times a day and also msir (morphine) 30 mg 6 times a day.  Yesterday when I went to pain management they wanted to do a urine test for my levels.  I haven't been taking that much medication but I don't want to lose my scripts because there are some days that I need them.  How many would I have to take before my next appointment to have the right level in my system so the doctor will be satisfied.

Hi - sorry to hear about your cancer.  are you sure they were checking your actual levels and not just checking to be sure you are taking some pills and not selling them?  Levels in urine tests are very expensive and not often done.  At any rate - when is your next appointment?  Take your medication as needed for pain, don't take extra because while you're obviously opiate tolerant, you wouldn't want to accidentally OD.

I wouldn't try to "catch up", as that would be really dangerous.  I would just be honest with the doc and tell him your concerns.
