CATUF: Science, Spirit, and our addictions

Greetings CATUF - I thought I'd bring this topic up in it's own thread!
Got your reply - thanks - wasn't sure if anyone else was interested in this sort of thing but to me the mere understanding of at least some small part of what I am  experiencing helps me to cope with it.  Thus I readily admit my ignorance and lack of understanding of much, but still struggle to understand just little bits and pieces. Provided that understanding has tangible benefits - as with my comments to Cat with ideas to try.

The real question I'm sure anybody who reads this is asking is: What the &$%#@!! does science and spirit have to do with healing our addictions?!

So I'll throw out a notion for others to ponder and comment on.
I suggest that the more you learn about how the human mind/body/spirit works, and how human experience manifests, that you will inherently find also the reason we are all struggling with these addictions -and- how to conquer them permanently.
Might not be a quick process but every step helps.

Plus burying oneself in a book (if you can focus on it, which I have not been able to do this week!) - also keeps your focus of attention away from the demons!

PS: Have not read any of those books but trust me they're on my list now! I'm doing a second run through "Holographic Universe", absolutely astonishing that this is somehow not mainstream understanding yet.

Peace
/D

Cool!  I was just on my way out of the office to the library (which I can see out my window) to pick up a copy of "The Tao of Sobriety."  Don't know anything about it yet, but it looked cool.  I checked and they have a copy of "Holographic Universe," so I'm going to get that too.

I wish I had a list of all the quantum physics books that I've read since I got home from rehab in early October of 2005.  I was taken with the notion during rehab that in that subject I would find the keys to God, spirituality, etc.  At first I was reading just pure physics stuff until my older sister told me about the Tao of Physics.  I called her up to ask something about the duality of light, since she used to be married to a guy with a PhD in theoretical physics.  I felt silly telling her about this Q.P.-spirituality connection that I was looking for, but instead of thinking I had lost it she pointed me in exactly the right direction.  That book is a bit dated on some of the finer points of QP, but not for the purposes I wanted it.

Anyway, I gotta run.  I won't be around much, if at all this weekend, but maybe we can "talk" Monday.

Have a good weekend and
DON'T CHANGE YOUR CLEAN DATE, NO MATTER WHAT.
