thank you for all the info on these posts! i have not stopped reading them all!
i am 50 healthy ,working,etc etc and def taking too many of these......4-6 a day for sure.for years
need to wean ,cannot tell hubby he would never understand.never!!!did i say NEVER?
i need a basis on which to guide me.......VERY SCARED> how long will it take till the barbituaite(sp) is out of my system?i am a very strong lady........can do it safely is all i want! Do i do one a day?half  am half pm?i read about seizuers and am freaked!!!,,i only have about 8 pills left and i cut them in half to make this work for me please advise......and thank you ~sb

Hi I was at 20 pills a day then went to 8 cold turkey which was the hardest day of my life then I had to tapper down little by little but I got there if you read my post you will see how far I have come it is  close to 2 years for me.   why did you  have the DR. fill your meds? you did not have any more to taper with? I hope you can do this don't stay on this drug it is not good for anyone best of luck!!!

MY DR IS REFILLING MY SCRIPT TO STAY WEANING....NORMALLY I WOULD BE EXSTATIC!! NOW I AM APPREHENSIVE!! I AM BETWEEN 2-3 A DAY ...........BETTER THEN THE 8-10 .SO I SEE IT IS SLOOOW GOING..I HOPE TO BE STRONG IN THE WEEKS AHEAD. ALTHOUGH I SEE IT IS NOT MY VERY FIRST THOUGHT EACH MORNING WHEN MY EYES POP OPEN!!SO THAT IN ITSELF IS PROGRESS...HOW MANY DID YOU TAKE PER DAY BEFORE?AND FOR HOW LONG?..GLAD TO HEAR U ARE DOING SOOO WELL:)

Hi Blondy!   Try spacing those 2 pills as far apart as you can.  This is the time when you need to be really strong and fight the urge to take more. As K. said...get on the forum and read and post.  It helps a lot!

You can do this! It's not as bad as you are thining...i promise! While you're out, grab some excederin. That should help with the headaches. Keep me posted on your progress. If you are finding that you have a strong urge, come to the forum and post. Everyone will walk you through it. lso if you can get out and exercise a bit, even if just for a walk, that helps me...a lot!
I'll be praying for you today. Stay strong and dig super deep!

they have been cut in half! .....so thats a start...........half here jhalf there scared cuz i am almost out.today i will bring  do 2 throuout the day and try try try to not do more:)

Hey Shar,

Can you go down to 2 a day? Maybe one in the am and one in the pm? I remember someone saying that they cut the tabs in half and took 4 (1/2 pills) throughout the day. I know this is hard, but it'll be easier on you in the long run.

hey there kathy........sorry have been so busy........yes three a day maybe another half for  good measre.......the urges are not as strong..........i am scared to not take them each day...for that headache?but i know i will soon have to risk it i am down to a few left .........gotta see how this pans out:( i feel good all around though,perhaps more energy ?is that possible?lol....let me know what your progress is hope its great!!

My staying off this drug is pure will power and my health family and living a healthy life without wanting, craving are having to always count on your next refil.  Thank God any one can do this if they try always I stay on this site to give my strenght in remind me of how far I have come.

Hi to everyone that posted on the drug fiorcet I hope that you are all doing well. I dont see to much more post on how you guys are doing? I have been on this site for more then 2 years now and I see people ask about how to get off this DOC in never come back. Just to let you know this is a good site to stay on to help keep you stay strong so always keep posting and you can help others as well. I hope that all of you are doing well.  I know how hard this drug is I come back just to remind me not to go down that road ever again.  Good Luck!!!

You only took 2 pills all day?! That's amazing! Hope to hear tha the taper plan is quick once you takl to him.
yeah, i am on day 3 and the w/d isnt too bad at all. although i was dwn to one a day. I have a little poopy stomach, nausea, dizzy, slight ehadache and leg cramp. That's it and it's not bad at all. Thank God! As far as I know, the only thing that works similar is excederine, exced migraine. I take the reg exec as i do not get migraines, but like tension headaches. Dont be ashamed when you talk to dr. it happens. The imporatnt thing is you're wanting to make it right. One ohter thing, i never took pills in the am. I tried to wait until at least 1-2pm. So now at 1-2pm I have been taking my vits and eating a huge lunch. Let me know how you make out today.  I'll pray for ya! Kathy

i has  cut two in half yesterday and tried to only do those(did it!).......so i had quite the headache at the base of my neck throughout the day:( and a teensy bit dizzy, if that is the worst day of it i am cool with that.No leg cramps.
i read so much about seizures that i feel that is panicking me out!...waiting to hear from Dr today to confess,and see the plan....is there a substitute for the f- cet pill?
boy the minute my eyes open ,that was my first thought,get one!wow! i really am dependant.so i am trying to reset brain,type to you,and focus on something eles!

Apparently the club soda has quinine (sp?) in it that helps with leg cramping. Its not my favorite, but seems to be helping. I hope that your plan works well. Perhaps you can have him help you taper. It will not be easy, but i bet easier than you think. I always built up the worst scenario in my mind and i let the whisper of f-cet call my name for years.  its nice that you have good friends that can respect your decision.
As far as being unsure, it really is a mind set. For me, I knew i needed to quit, but it is a process for sure. I am ready to take my life back; pill free!

my dr happens to be in state but not my REAL dr .
he is my best friends hubby and will totally get it:) as for my friends they are as well my oldest dear friend and will never give them to me if i say the word......they dont push ..they use recreationally, i dont drink or do anything else.so i pray this road is easy..........when i get the RX, i may have to give to a friend, to dole  them out .. i am .unsure ??i have never been addicted to anything..other then to party like in the 80's.
but one pill a week......good for you!

Yes,  a dr can certainly help you better than i can. I took my last pill on saturday at 8pm and I feel good so far...praying that doesnt change. I have been taking vitamins and drinking clun soda too. If i were in your shoes I would try and taper like 1 pill per week. Do you have the self control to do that? I never did, so for my taper I put x amount of pills in envelopes for each day and flushed the rest. That was really hard, but it felt really good too. Try an come up with a plan w/your dr and then stick to it. As far as your firends go, i had to do the same when coming off opiates. Becareful thoguh cause sometimes they dont get it. you have to tell them over and over not to talk about it, not to offer, etc... I had a friend tell me the other day "when u help me move, I'll give ya some percs". I had to tell her...maybe you didnt understand me 2 months ago...I DO NOT want them. I quit! She said Oh, ok just htought i would offer. long story here, but i think she finally gets it. If not, I will have to cut her off.

thank for the reply.........i am asking my dr today  for some so that i can wean off...i have cut the last few in half  and started yesterday the process..i would honestly have to say about 8  a day  perhaps less on a short supply....for approx 5-6 years.for tension,not migraines,gave me that buzz to get through,,,,,,,,,,,although i am high energy anyway.weird huh?how long does it take for the stuff to be out of ur sytem totally??....i took 1 1/2 all day yesterday.and had no issue with sleep or daily activities.......so far so good:)i am calling my friends who do have them on hand and telling them to NEVER give me anymore.no matter what!!~,i have a daughter at home and has one more year before she off to college and i want to be IN MY OWN head to enjoy her before shes out and i am an empty nester~~

Hi Blondy, Welocme to the forum. As you know and have read, f-cet has to be weaned very carefully. Can you go to you dr and ask for help? How many are you taking each day and for how many years? Keep posting here. There are soem folks on here that are very familiar with this drug and can offer soem good advice. Dont egt discouraged that we didnt respond to your post. Some days the forum is slower than others. Glad you found us and look forward to seing you get clean.
