Can someone help me with suboxone please?

Hey guys.. so I finally gave in a decided to get on suboxone and I must say, im impressed. I took my first dose today at my psychiatrist' office (also my first visit with this doctor, I took half of an 8 MG tab) and that was about 12 hours ago and im still not feeling any withdrawls.

I was taking about 40 MG of oxycodone at once to keep my WD's away and they ysyally returned in less than 6 hours.. this suboxone is some pretty powerful stuff!

Ok here is my problem though.. My psychiatrist is from Nigeria and hes really hard to understand and he dosen't speak english all that well so I had a hard time understanding some things he told me to do. He is also the only Suboxone doctor in my area. As I said.. I took my first dose about 12 hours ago and im not feeling any WD's yet but im supposed to take another half a pill "during the PM"

Does anyone know when I should do this? Should I wait for my WD's to come back completely before I take another dose? Do I need to be in a moderate state of withdrawl every time I take a dose? I know these are things I should have asked my doctor but I was a mess while I was in there and I couldn't think straight.. Since the clinic requires you be in a state of withdrawal when you come in to get on suboxone, am I right in thinking that I am supposed to be in a moderate state of WD again before I can take my next dose or can I just take it after 12 hours have passed even though im not WD'ing?

Someone please help.. thanks alot for any info.

Try to not talk with it in your mouth it really helps. Some of the juice is going to get down your throat, but not enough to make you sick. Yes right now they are giving out a $75 coupon and it can be used for six months. It will help with the cost. My insurance pays about 60% of the cost for me so with the coupon it is a real good deal.

I also have to pay cash and my first visit was $200 and then $125 each visit after, $25 of that is for drug test. They said if they find any other drug in my system I will get taken off the suboxone. I pay the money for drug test but I haven't had one for I have never left a urine sample.

I wish you luck with your recovery and when you get off the suboxone I would be interested in knowing if you had problems stopping........Janet

Thanks for the responses guys.. thanks to your messages and further research online I think I have everything figured out. I took my other half of a pill (4mg) about 5 hours ago and I must say, this is a pretty potent drug.

I don't get the same intense euphoric feeling I was getting from the hydro/oxy and even tramadol that I have been on for almost 2 years but I do get a feeling of comfort and a strange feeling of "normalness". What im loving is that these actually keep the withdrawls gone for a LONG time..

To Janet.. I am taking the pills. I don't have insurance so im having to do private pay and it *****. 250.00 for the first visit and then the pills are expensive as hell too. Not to mention the 25.00 that they told me to always have on hand in case they pull a random drug screening. Due to this, the doc told me he might put me on the strips after about a week because there is a promo offer going on right now thats supposed to make them cheaper. I honestly don't think they would be as hard to take as the pills..

What I don't like about taking the pills is that I put it under my tongue but for some reason when im trying to keep them there my mouth seems to constantly fill with saliva and im afraid that is going to get in my stomache and make me sick. Or that the pill wont be as effective because some of the saliva is making some of the pill drain..

Anyway, sorry for the sporadic and poor typing.. im extremely tired and going to try and get some sleep finally. Thanks again for the info guys!

Was on suboxone for 2 years and am on day 18 clean from them now and still dont feel great. I guess that can confirm that the w/d's  do indeed last a long time and definitely SUCK. Atleast you are on a short term plan, I hope it works out good for you. Best of luck!

I take suboxone and I take it as my doctor prescribed. I am on 16mgs a day. I was told to take 8mgs in am when I get up and then again 4mgs in the afternoon and then 4mgs in the evening.  He asked me when I felt I needed to use and he went by the same times I used pills when I was taking the vic and soma.

You do not wait until you feel withdraw to take them again. The med is designed so that you don't go through withdraws except in the beginning. they say if you are not in a moderate state of withdraw when you take your first dose that the suboxone will through you into an instant withdraw. Which you already have taken your first dose.

Did your dr tell you that suboxone has a long half life and it will stay in your system a lot longer then the opiates you were taken. I think it is some like 87% longer. Dont quote me on that. I think someone posted something like that one time. I do not know much about the suboxone other then what I researched before I took it. My doctor is also hard to understand so the nurse went over it with me several times before I left the office. I have been taken it like 2 1/2 months.

Are you taking the pills or the strips? I just started the strips last Wednesday and I am having trouble getting them under my tongue before they start sticking to a moist part of the mouth. Not sure seems like I am having more pain then I did before I stopped the pills however I am not have any withdraw symptoms so I must be getting enough of the suboxone.

I would suggest that you go to suboxone.com and read up about the suboxone. I did a lot of research before I started taking it. It will tell a lot of the do's and don'ts about it. Especially read the side effects and about the intended use of suboxone. There are also a lot of other meds that should not be taken with the suboxone. If I can help any more than this just send me a note or messege. Hope this helps

Thanks! I hope so too because I hear the withdrawls for this stuff last a LONG TIME if you end up taking sub for a long time and that they can be pretty bad.

Im hoping to be off in at least a month.

Oh man!  Being on Sub is confusing enough!  Then with a language barrier!!   Try to get printouts of all your instructions. Also, ask if a staff member can be in the room with you when you visit. You need to be crystal clear on your instructions at all times.

I hope this is a short term process for you.  Good luck!

Yeah, im supposed to take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening. As far as a recovery program, yes I am in one.

I stay at the current dose im at for 2 days then go up to 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening for 1 week, then I return for another visit to the doc. Im also subject to random drug tests. The one thing I don't like is that my doctor is from Nigeria and he is extremely hard to understand and dosen't speak english very well.. he is my only option for suboxone treatment though.

I'm assuming he told you to take 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 in the evening.  If so,that's what you need to do. The object of this is to be comfortable and NOT go into withdrawals. In addition, you should be involved in a recovery program. Are you?
