Can withdrawal symptoms return from Roxicodone?

Can withdrawal symptoms return from Roxicodone?

I quit Roxicodone cold turkey in early October.  I have been on some kind of opiate for 2 1/2 years.  Before I quit, my worst was 30 roxy 30mg a day.  A week and a half into it I had to break down and get Xanax to help me sleep.  I was taking both when I was abusing.  I would take any benzo I could get my hands on.  I would take the benzo until they were gone.  I would usually get enough to last me about 3 weeks.  Then I would be off for a week or until a friend would get another script.  I "fell off the wagon" this weekend and ran out of Xanax yesterday.  It almost feels like I'm going thru withdrawals from opiates again.  Is this possible or am in withdrawals from benzos?  My back pain, which was gone 2 1/2 weeks after quitting, has returned.  It's on my right side of my mid to lower back.  I couldn't sleep more than a 1/2 hr at a time last night.  I don't know if I can take another 3 weeks of opiate withdrawals.  I did it cold turkey to punish myself.  I guess I didn't learn a damn thing.

I really hope that you can pull through this and stop using ALL pills. Using the benzos will just prolong it. I'm not an expert by any means, I'm on day 3 clean and its not easy but the work is worth the reward. You shouldnt quit to punish yourself, you should quit to better yourself. You need to be positive, and I know its hard. But please believe that there is more to life than what youve been allowing yourself. keep posting, tjis is a wonderful helpful place and the people on here are on on your side. rooting for you. if you need help or encouragement, im here. take a deep breath and really allow yourself to feel.facing the addiction and deciding to do this for a better life is the first step. if u r having back pain try advil and hot baths or a heating pad. thats what i do now and it does help. i wish you lots of  luckand am sending positive thoughts and energy your way.

I too was in a similar situation as you. I was using about 20-25 roxy 30mg per day before I quit. I can tell you that you got yourself in a bit of a pickle with the xanax. I also have a script for it and was taking it after my detox for a good month or two. And when I pulled off of that I had almost the exact same w/d as I did off the roxys. My stomach was tight in the morning, I was chilled, sweats, headache, and all the other. The w/d you are feeling is not any physical w/d off the opiates if you are a month clean. The only thing you can do here is fight it out again and get through a week of similar w/d. Us addicts must watch ourselves everyday because there are so many other things out there we can so easily become addicted to. I hope that you are able to overcome all of this and get sober. You will feel so much better off of them. Goodluck -john

Thank you Lucky!  That's all I was looking for.

I appreciate your words of encouragement readynow81 ...I really do.  Everyone who quits has their own reasons for it and shouldn't be corrected for it.  I turned 40 in September and it hit me pretty hard.  I was going to end up dead of an OD if I didn't stop when I did.  I started taking PK's for my back.  I have Scoliosis and it's been getting progressively worse with age.  It became a habit after time.  I have an addictive personality.  I started with Loritab w/ Methadone.  I moved up to 100mg Morphine a day.  I kicked that.  I started taking the 1/4 of a Roxy because it gave me some pep and relieved my pain for work.  I quit before and I never had to go through what I just did.

I couldn't take the sleepless nights and depression going through my detox.  Going cold turkey on the amount I was doing can be dangerous.  Day 3 of being clean is commendable, but you have a ways to go.  Yeah...  I'm justifying my use of Xanax.  If I didn't have something for sleep and anxiety.  I would have gone insane.  Sorry if I'm coming off as insensitive.  I just went through 3 weeks of hell and 2 weeks later I'm feeling like I'm back at square one.

I apologize if I sounded insensitive in MY post. I didn't think I was, and i certainly would never try to be intentionally.  I don't judge anyone for their situation or circumstances, for I wouldn't want to be judged. That's not what this place is for.
i apologize if me thinking the benzos were a bad idea offended you in anyway, but I still stick to that idea, personally. And you are right. Everyone has to do what is right for them. I just wanted to try and help, and I still wish you all the best .
And yes, I realize I'm early on in this game, and I DO have a ways to go. But five days in, I'm happy, feeling good, and moving on to the future. And no pills are coming with me.
Hope you have a good day, and good luck to you.. whatever you decide.
