I cannot explain it but maybe I can try to, I have struggled so much coming off and staying off of benzos due to the withdrawal symptoms the headaches well migraines were unbearable, the anxiety and depression. They even caused some nerve damage that cannot be repaired. I have PTSD now. What I would give to turn back time and change it all but hey they were Doctors aren't we supposed to trust them? NO! Hell NO! But I am lucky because I am getting better every day I stay off of them. it's been over a year now and I still get the migraines and I still have some symptoms but they are slowly fading ...very slowly.
I know how you feel. I am a recovering benzo addict it is very hush hush in the medical field. It's awful that Doctors can prescribe such dangerous drugs to their patients without even having the knowledge about what they can do if used long term. It's actually sad.
It all depends on how the Doctor went about this. If you were abusing them then he/she has every right to take you off of them and no it is not malpractice. If your Doctor did not refer you to a rehab Center to get off of them he/she is not a very good doctor to have. You should always see a therapist who knows more about these pills than a regular healthcare provider. You should never stop taking benzos cold turkey! and you should always check yourself into a hospital before tapering off of them you need supervision! Benzos are nothing to play around with. I would know. If you did have a seizure after the fact then that is malpractice but you didn't and that is good. It took me almost a year to start to feel like me again and I have never felt better in my life since I came off of benzos. It's not easy.Good Luck you will need it but it is so worth it!
BENZO C/T WILL KILL YOU!!!! DONT DO IT ALONE.I TRIED IT. AFTER 5 DAYS NO
SLEEP,I SNAPPED AND ENDED UP IN THE ER HALUCINATING.NO ****
Who are you, and who the hell made you spokesperson when you have no details, no facts, and no clue when it comes to this person's situation?
"This is going to sound a little rude ..."
You left out inconsiderate, uninformed and stupid. I'll let you get back to torturing houseflies.
Hi and welcome to the forum!
Benzos are NOT to be stopped CT!!! They MUST be tapered off slowly.
I have no idea what you take, how much and for how long but the risk of seizure and/or delirium tremens id way too high.
Could you tell a lil more about what you are taking, it's gonna be easier for us to help...
This is an old post maybe you should create your own and be a lil more specific, just an idea.
It's kinda quieter in the w-e on here. Hang in there.
Best of luck. xooxo. sophie.
i've had to detox cold turkey off of opiates and benzodiazapines/other anxiolytics at the same time, and had tried to get help yet was turned down and sent home to just do everything on my own. it's tough and i feel doctors and hospitals should show more sympathy. something should be done about this, it is becoming so common. since this post relates to my own situation i must say, my heart truly does go out to others that have to face the same problem. it's one of the hardest things to go through physically and psychologically.
alcohol and hard drugs does not even touch what it is like to come off a muscle relaxant or benzo. benzo withdrawal symptoms can last for years. there is more sympathy for alcholics and hard drug users that benzo users cos the drug companies are a business and multi million pound companies who brush withdrawal symptoms under the carpet. Sue the bastards!!! I am going to when i recover. a cold turkey withdrawal from a muscle relaxant has ruined my life.
Perhaps you could make an appt to speak with this dr. and bring some literature about the dangers of ct off of benzos. I know you are ok but the next person he/she does this with could suffer greatly or die. You might just approach it as an opportunity to enlighten the dr.
Believe me, the doctor is well aware of what happens when a patient is coming off benzos. They actually have a protocol of what do do and when to do it. There is a science behind this.
Benzo C/T is done only in a hospital or a setting where doctors are available.....
Alcohol, Benzo's, and long time Heroin users should all have medical supervision......Seizures are very probable......
There is a book you may want to read called "I'm dancing as fast as I can"
This is going to sound a little rude, but maybe you should just be greatful you are still alive and happy that you are in a situation where you can look back and accept what has happened. Then possibly take measures to where you will not have to put your life in this doctor's hands again. We are always trying to blame someone else for situations we get ourselves into. I know I don't have all the details, but my advice would be to just be thankful you are still here, and let it go.
I think it depends on what and how long to if it was harmful
Hi and welcome to the forum... I'm not sure what you can do about a doctor that does that to you but I sure would like to know also, someone I'm sure with some good advice will let you know in the next couple of hours. It's 4:48am here in florida right now so some people may take a while to reply. I wish you luck and you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Take care and god bless, I'm here if you wanna chat for a while.
